Ampeg SVT 4 Pro and Sansamp RBI

Hi all,

I have a simple question:
Is it mandatory to run the RBI in the effect loop of an amp? SVT4 PRO for me. Normally isn't a preamp supposed to run before the EQ?
Also, is it possible to completly bypass it?
In the end, the point is to use the RBI like a drive channel.

You can run it into the front of the amp as well as the effects loop. Yes you can bypass it completely. There is an active/on/off button that I believe is foot switchable. Yes you will have to experiment with the various blend and eq knobs to get the best sounds since you will have the preamp on your SVT as well as the RBI. If you run it through the effects loop there is a 50/50 output jack allowing you to essentially blend the amp preamp and the RBI preamp. Lots of different options.

It did help for sure!
However, I was told overdrives had to be run in front of the EQ. If I run it in the effect loop, it will be behind the EQ. IS it still ok then?

Oh yeah it will be fine. It really is up to your own ears after all. I've heard that the RPM has more gain if you are looking for that, fizzier? fuzzier? And parametric mids. Geddy Lee switched from and RBI to the RPM for that reason.

The RBI will be fine for me as just need to dirt my sound. I'm good to go for it.
One last thing, is it a true bypass? My main sound is my clean heavy sound and I'm very picky on my tone. I don't want it to be altered at all.

I've started running the RBI in the effects loop of my SVT3. Seems to work really well just dirtying up a bit, I will try Active on/off tonight and see if it affects the original tone I just had from my SVT3 which I was happy with also..

However if you run it in the effect loop you should not notice any difference. However, what if it's in front of the amp? Is it true bypass?
I'm asking as I'd like to keep the effect loop free for any multi effect processor I might buy one day.

Hey man, yeah on second thought it seems to not sound so great in the effects loop, but I'll have to play with it more, too much gear!!!
