Ampeg Svt 4 Pro with 810 cab

I wonder if it’s the Bass ....it doesn’t do it much but when I put my hand over the neck pickup in the blackbird it’s goes really fuzzy distorted way faster and for longer. Still worse on loud and low inputs of playing...but happens on all the notes when it’s really bad...I moved my hand as far away as I could.... turned it up....then turned it down....it seems like it went away the longer it was on but I didn’t turn it back up again. So I’ll wait till tomorrow when I can thump the house.i disconnected the tuner and the Bbe sonic maximizer. Just to make sure nothing else was contributing to it.

The neck pick up has some string groove marks on it.. probably from someone slapping. I’m still thinking about those never installed emghz for the blackbird....even the worst emg...true emg has to be better than the best stock gibson pickup.

I think it’s the tubes. I let it warm up cranked the gain back and forth -15 dbs in and back out. Crackly and slight column waves then smoothed out.... tubes are on way out maybe. I notice that my peak light doesn’t light up...I’m assuming this guy liked overdriven tubes...how else could you burn it out?

Still Daft. I wanna hook up my 1x18 cab to my amp but its been so long that I don't remember the fine details. Right now I just want to hook up the 1x18... when I have a buddy to help me get the 810 upstairs I'll try hook both the 1x18 and the 810. How do I do this? Biggest confusion is which position I put the two buttons stereo/mono is one and the other is stereo vs mono bridge. for the second button I'm not running it in stereo but I'm definitely not running it in mono bride.

The back side of the 4 PRO has a lot of options, but don't let it confuse you. Make sure to review the manual in the link above; it's easy to hook this up incorrectly. The trick to remember is that the 4 PRO has two separate power amps, each amp has the same output wattages. The Mono operation ONLY works at 4 ohms and combines the output of both power amps into one output. In Stereo mode, each power amp can handle a 2 ohm load if desired. You can connect both cabinets to the same power section or you can run each cabinet on a different power section. You can always utilize the Bi-amp mode and send the 18 the lower frequencies while leaving everything else to the 810. I would try it both ways and see what you like more. Good luck.
