Ampeg Svt 4 Pro with 810 cab

Using two 1/4 inch speaker cables I would like to use both amp A and B into upper 410 A and lower 410 B. From which 1/4 inch jack do they come from? I’m pretty sure I can tell which too put them into. Which position should the stereo/mono button be in? If someone has this rig and can just take a picture of it in this configuration, that would be appreciated. I tried to make sense of the manual but I’m not great with that. They tried using one picture to show two different ways at once. The videos didn’t help either. Thank you

Maybe it’s been answered already but here’s how I run my svt4pro into my 810cab. Running a single amp (a) or (b) you run the mono/ bridge mode (engaged) pushed in.

if your running amp A into (upper 410 and amp B into (lower 410) vice versa or two separate cabinets you need to have the stereo mode (disengage) or out.

I haven’t run the bridged mono mode (center) speakon position yet due to not having the proper cord but again the button would be pushed in for mono/bridged mode.

I’d rather one or two 115s....the rms on one of them though is only 200 Watts....I’m pretty bright in general but this stuff has me feeling more than just a little slow. I can’t even imagine the math on an 810 and 1 or 2 115s

So you wired both sides of the speakon cables to +1 -1?

Correct.

My SVT-4 Pro is the current model. Printing on rear panel at mono-bridge port indicates those polarities (+1 Hot / - 1 Return) so that's how I wired the cable.

It all comes down to what generation your SVT-4 Pro is.

Thank you. My amp is exactly like yours. So what would the right polarity be at the mono bridged speakon attached to the amp? Are we the newer amp which is +1 -1 to +1 -1? Or +1 +2? If so you have the right cable already...also in the monbridged section it puts out 1200 or 1600 Watts? How would our 810s handle that? On the 810 cab it has two speakon left and right. Does either one work for the mono bridged. Does only hooking up one automatically go to both upper and lower?

Watch the volume, and when in doubt, use your ears and don't rely on the numbers to save your bacon.

Running you’re amp in mono mode (single amp A or B) should be more then fine...it’s close to 600 Watts @ 4 ohms...it gets plenty loud! If your set on wanting to run both amp A and B in stereo mode you can but I would recommend using your ear for best judgment as splitting the 810 into two separate 410’s reduces the raiting to 400 Watts per...I forget what the svt4pro is rated at for 8 ohms but has to be close to or above wattage raiting.

Not sure on other cabinet senaro as I don’t know the raitings. Again in band settings running a single amp into 810 is loud!

I'm guessing that yours is the previous generation, which I have zero experience with cabling. I would have thought that the +1/+2 cable setup would have worked for mono-bridged output on it.

The solution that @jdubbass38 is using might be your way to go for now.

It seems to me that as per the writing on the far left side of our amp...where it says monobridged +1 +2 that my amp is the older one with that arrangement. I can’t figure why it doesn’t sound right

Ok...so before I hooked up with a quarter inch jack it made sound was a little crackly at a certain note or frequency so I wasn’t sure I had done it right.... I tried the 1+2+...heard nothing...than tried the 1/4 inch and heard something I’d had my gain all the way down.... I went back to the 1+/2+... nothing but humming back the 1/4 inch sounds right but crackling at lower frequency and louder volume...playing or strumming volume.... i rewire my +1+2 to +1+1 so I can try Jdubs set up on power amp b....sounds right but the crackling at volume and lower frequency. I also notice that on the bbe sonic maximizer 482i it lights up the 20 indicator as it crackles.... I turn the bbe process of and it still does it... calling and lit up yellow light go hand in hand...

I just got out of bed at 330am after thinking and thinking and rereading... I also found a diagram that showed exactly what I wanted to do along with your pictures...I tried 1/4 to 1/4 out of a and b like I had originally wanted to. I switched the button out for stereo...could only try low volumes...it might still distort and crackle when I can turn it up tomorrow but I’m hoping it doesn’t....

Pictured perfectly...only thing that could make it better is if it showed the position of the mono stereo button.... it’s just a cab manual though. I think they assume that by the time you need or can afford one of these you probably know what you’re doing or are paying someone who does. My success exceeds my talent. Unfortunately it’s because my ambition has superceded all else.

In any case no matter how complex our lives or our gear I have to quote something I can’t remember but that basically all scientific principles can be taught to anyone even to children with thoughtful yet simple demonstrations....(like how all I needed was a picture book lol)

Here are my svt4pro to 810 cab connections.

Speakon (mono/ bridge mode) pushed in, using a single amp. You can choose Amp A or B it doesn’t matter.

Same setup as above only using 1/4” connection.

If you run (stereo mode) pushed out using 1/4” connections. In this senaro amp A is going to upper 410 1/4” input, amp B is going to bottom 1/4” inputs. You can also run a second cab in stereo mode.

Hope this helps, again I have not run the (mono bridge mode) bridged with special speakon (center speakon on amp). That is a crazy amount of power and I’ve never used this amp where running one of the above senaros pictured was not enough power using just a single amp A or B.

So I’m still getting the crackling....it’s the crackling that had me convinced all along that I might have the wiring wrong.... good news is that as far a know, I know I never made a wrong move I was just unsure. My Gen was the proper +1+2 cable that I tried so something wrong was never plugged in... I always had it right just doubted it...now comes endless troubleshooting...

It comes even at low master volume but when I play it harder...play lower notes or start playing notes in combination like a chord....it’s worse. It’s faster when I hold my hand over the bridge pick up...I tried testing the bass through an old line 6 pod, it comes through that clear as day....there’s no major power section going on through that or the headphones I can play as loud or hard as I want with chords and I don’t hear a distortion. I can hit the -20 on the bbe and not get distortion but if I have distortion -20 is lit up. I was hoping it would be the bass....easy fix. I can by pass my power conditioner, bbe and tuner to rule out a component...
I can try just a amp and just b amp... maybe listen to see if it’s all the speakers making this noise....but if it was a speaker shouldn’t they distort at any volume? I’ve changed cords. I can’t change basses right now... there are pre amp tubes in these... what else?

Now I’ll really need some advice on this...

Try sticking an instrument cable between the effect return and send. If the crackling clears up, then that means they're corroded and need cleaned, which you can do by either spraying them with a little bit of Deoxit or running a plug in and out of them several times fast. It could also be a tube. Open the lid and try tapping on each tube with a light wooden object (don't use metal for obvious reasons) and listen for crackling, or switch each tube out one at a time with a known good tube. If those don't work, then take it to a tech.
