Understood if replacing the PCB.
I was referring to replacing low cost individual components (chips, resistors, etc) on my dead PCB instead of replacing the whole board.

I’ve talked with techs and basssits that have replaced PCB to have them fail a second time, and I’m not wanting to invest the time and money in that.
If I fail in that pursuit, I’ll know who to hold accountable.
There doesn’t seem to be much service accountability on the manufactures side for the original amp or it’s replacement components.

I’m still running my 7 pro/810 rig like a bat outa heck lol. Never gives up or falls out. Killing both my guitarist is what I love to do most. We are a ridiculously loud band. With the 810 it’s insanely loud. Only ever got the volume 1/3rd the way up before I thought the windows would shatter at the venue. Oops! My bad Mr. Sound guy. I have been looking at an EBS Reidmar 502 to match with two EBS Classicline 212 cabs. Blasphemy!

Hi all,
I bought my SVT7 a few months ago, cheap. Probably too cheap...
It worked fine untill a month ago, it started to fail when getting warm. Off -on -off -on every 10 sec. So I tried a fan on the ICE 2A165, and tataa! It worked fine. While it was open I tought replacing the tube was a good idea so I put in a EH 12ax7, switched on the amp and after 30 sec there was a blue flash at the elco's on the right. Switched it off immediately.
What can be wrong? The elco's did not explode, there is nothing burned.

So the 7 pro blew the EBS Reidmar 750 out of the water. Playing them back to back with my band you could really understand why Ampeg was so adamant on building their own power section instead of going with the same one everyone else does. The Ampeg power section in class D amps sounds full & thick. As my drummer says it hits real hard, you can hear it and feel it like a class a/b amp.

Hello, just got my SVT-7 Pro in the post yesterday! I’ve already got about 3-4 hours play time on it and I’m loving it. Rev C00 on top, Rev H01 on the board.

Does anyone know if this Hosa footswitch (FSC-385) will work as the replacement for the all-too-expensive-and-elusive Ampeg AFB2??

I can't say with 100% certainty, but I'm not seeing anything different about the Hosa than Ampeg's own. They both use a 1/4" TRS cable.

I didn't say anything about Rev H.

The problem with repairing these is (if you cant do the work yourself) its going to cost you and you may spend money and not have a fixed amp. The likelihood the surrounding components are damaged is high and it will require a bench fee to find out. Then you are talking about either loosing that money or going one deeper and replacing the whole board at a cost of somewhere around $350.00 if a Tech does it. Not a comforting proposition. If I spent the money to do that I would immediately sell the amp as I have no faith this would be a lasting fix. Now that is just my little 2 cents YMMV. My friend threw his in the trash and purchased a different brand of amp. I doubt he will ever purchase another Ampeg and he has dreamed of Ampeg all his life.

The Ice chip failure of the 7 pro was a design fault. Loud technologies should have admitted that design failure and replaced/ warrantee repaired all of the 7 pros that had the ICE2A156 chip - but they didn't.

The 7 pro is a typical class D amp in that it trades lighter weight for design complexity - just like all the other class D amps out there. The board although chinese made is just like any other electronic device - in that could possibly fail. If you need a higher level of reliability than "normal" then you need to do what the pros do and run with a system that has redundancy - i.e. two amps, two cabs etc, or as some do, keep one of those tiny amps in your gig bag that you can swap over to if you do have a failure at a gig ( bass block, elf 200).

when i use my 7pro (or any other amp) i always take my Genz-Benz streamliner 900 as a backup head. i also take a Tone Hammer & Two Notes CAB M for emergencies.
