The problem with repairing these is (if you cant do the work yourself) its going to cost you and you may spend money and not have a fixed amp. The likelihood the surrounding components are damaged is high and it will require a bench fee to find out. Then you are talking about either loosing that money or going one deeper and replacing the whole board at a cost of somewhere around $350.00 if a Tech does it. Not a comforting proposition. If I spent the money to do that I would immediately sell the amp as I have no faith this would be a lasting fix. Now that is just my little 2 cents YMMV. My friend threw his in the trash and purchased a different brand of amp. I doubt he will ever purchase another Ampeg and he has dreamed of Ampeg all his life.

Well just bear in mind that Ampeg is owned by Yamaha now, not LOUD, the company that designed the 7 Pro. Doesn't help you any, but they've been reviewing the whole line and they're not going to let out products that aren't finished and solid.

I currently use a fair amount of Yamaha gear and their quality is second to none. I do hope they get a grip on these types of problems Ampeg has suffered through.

I ordered the Hosa Footswitch (FSC-385) today for my SVT-7 Pro. Will report here whether it works well or not. Also got the chance to really crank the amp yesterday, gain at noon, master at 9 o’clock...it was loud enough to handle most small/medium venues by itself. What a beast this thing is.

What is the footswitch going to control? I know there's a jack for one but I never really thought about what it's for.

What type of cab are you using? I use a 610HLF with mine it yea, that thing is able to handle anything.

It is supposed to control the mute and apparently will also turn the FX chain on and off. Pretty sweet feature that may allow me to go back to clean with one button after fully engaging a few pedals in a row.

Cabs:
SWR Goliath Jr III 2x10 8ohm
SWR Son of Bertha 1x15 (also 8ohm)

Got it today and it works perfectly. Switch #1 handles the FX On/Off and Switch #2 activates the mute. Only downside would be not having any indicator LEDs but, I knew that before making the purchase and I don’t really NEED the lights.

Well, I had a gig this weekend, and I noticed some strange volume issues. When I was playing, the volume was lowering sometimes. But not cutting out.
It was a bit confusing and puzzling. The amp was running with the master set at 2 O'clock and I was messing with the pad and the gain just to check if the preamp had to do something with it.
It's the first time that I really push the amp that hard as I didn't play a lot this year. The amp was powering a single Hartke 410 cab.
The weird thing is this summer, the amp was powering my two SWR Goliath without any issues. However, the preamp was my Axe FX II+. So I was not using the preamp of the SVT 7, only it's power section.

Do you guys think the cab my be the cause of my issue? I have to say I was very impressed by how hard I had to push this single Hartke 410 cab.

Well il tried with two basses and I had the same result with both. Except that I could play the rest of the gig with one of the two basses. And batteries where swapped at the amazing time..... I thought about this too actually. So I have to investigate more about this.
