Ampeg SVT 7 Pro Club

I'm very excited - just got (paid for) an SVT7 Pro, 6 mos. old in mint condition, with a Furman conditioner and in road case for $400 + $75 shipping. this will replace my PF 500 as main head paired with my HLF 410 Classic cab. From all I have read n the forum, I think this is a super deal! Should have it early next week, and can't freakin' wait!

Congrats on a fine deal. That's about what I paid without the road case and furman....nice.

Pf500 for the past year. And I love it. Last week bought SVT 7 pro scratch and dent from AMS. Lasted 20 min same old cutting off and on. There customer service is amazing. The sent me a brand new one for a very discounted price and it was delivered in two day. I have been playing it for the past 4 hours through 2 15" customized cabs with Peavey Black widow 1502/8ohms. I am blown away by this amp. The tone the headroom the tone the way it handles my effects the tone. Can I have a number please!!!!!

Something strange happened today. I've had my SVT 7pro for a 1½ years, and it has performed flawlessly. Today, while playing, a heard what sounded like a glass breaking inside the unit, then the power went out. I thought I would see a broken tube when I lifted the top cover, but everything looks perfect. Changing tubes, electrical outlets does nothing. It's just has no power. Fortunately, Ampeg offers a five-year warranty. I'm very curious to see what went wrong.

I forgot to add that the fuse checks out good, too. Good suggestion, though. It seems like it's always the last thing I check.

Its funny.. .Because at one of the NAMM shows .. Im guessing around 2004 or 2005 they came out with the SVT 8 .. They skipped over SVT 7 and went from SVT6 to SVT8.. I asked the artist rep at the time why they went from SVT6 to SVT7 and she said 7 was bad luck.. i laughed... but she looked serious.. mmmm Maybe some truth to it considering all the issues with the SVT7..
I was in St Louis last week and the opening band had an svt7 and it sounded great. i had to go compliment the guy on his stage sound because it did sound great.. But i just see so many issues coming up with them that i am afraid to buy one.

Seven worked just fine for Mickey Mantle.

All these problems cost the company money to fix and it's in their best interest to remedy the issue. I'm hoping they have done that by now. I bought mine a few months back new and from an authorized dealer/service center. With a five year warranty I'm betting that I'm good.

The Mick was my wifes' favorite Yankee! We named our Golden Retriever after him! I haven't received the SVT 7 Pro yet, should have it next Monday the 29th, but, seeing as it has been used by the seller for 6 months, I figure I'm good with any problems. He describes it as a 'workhorse'. I purchased my PF 500 the same way. I think that there are many stories of Ampeg's problems, but few about how good and reliable they are. I used to work customer service for Verizon, nobody ever called to say how great they thought we were doing!

Well the addiction continues. I just purchased the Svt-410 classic cab. So now I am running the SVT-7PRO into the new SVT410. The PF-500 into a custom made 15" cab it's the red shaggy on bottom. The top white one has become a back up. This combination is pure bliss. Finally have the tone set. As all the other SVT7PRO owners know it's indescribable. First gig with the new set up is this weekend. So far in practice it has performed beautifully.

Set up the rig and practiced a short while with the SVT. All I can say is : Oh. My. God! What a noticeable difference! Have to get this baby dialed in and crankin'!

I have the same cab! You can see from my last post, I haven't had time to play with it, but all I can say from what I heard today, is : I cant wait!

I have been using the PF500 with two custom cabs both have 1502 8om 15" speakers love this set up recently bought the Svt-7 pro and the Svt 410 cab. I have to admit I was a bit Leary of the stage presence. We don't always have the best sound systems to play through at different gigs. I am 3 gigs into just using the 410 cab with the svt7. Mic'd DI or nothing this setup has blown me away. The sound on stage is dynamic and how it reaches out beyond the stage is amazing. The lows are felt and delivered the mids are punchy and highs are bright with out being tingy. For practice and playing gigs it is way beyond what I expected. From small bars 50 to 100 people to mid venues 200 to 300 people this set up delivers. Even bigger venues DI'd this thing will produce.

That's exactly what I wanted to hear. I will be playing in churches that seat 100-300 people and will direct out through a good PA system so this system should be a lot better that my current rig of Mark Bass 4x10
