Ampeg SVT 7 Pro Club

I am very impressed with the quality of my 7 PRO. It is built well and the beefy knobs, pots and jacks feel solid. Both the rugged chassis and the components inside are above average IMHO.

My only personal complaint is that the headphone jack should have been located in the rear as to not take up valuable real estate on the front panel of a PRO amp, but I will overlook this for the monster tones it feeds my cabs with :-)

Cheers!

Anyone ever try to find or construct a headcase for these smaller 2U rack units so they look like a Classic?

I picked up a Carvin 2 space rack. Noy sure if it's what you are looking for, but I like it

No, that's just a tolexed rack. :)

But if you found a 4U version of that and made a cloth cover with Ampeg classic logo and installed it in the vacant 2U under the head it'd be getting closer to what I thought. A 5U case with the cloth under would probably work best.

I don't have my 7Pro in hand yet, but the rack handles jutting out of the ears would be a dead giveaway I'm guessing. :p

i got ya. That would look nice

Eh, doesn't look as sweet as I thought it would. :p Though he used an actual Ampeg Classic shell. What do I know?

MESA makes some great headcases to slip their rack units into. Certainly does NOT look like an Ampeg Classic, but it's a nice looking product to wrap your rack unit in.

Also, the rack ears could be modified, in fact they do not even come attached so if you don't want them... you could just screw the sides of the rack casing into the sides of the amp. That is where you attach the screws for the ears so there are ready made holes for your modding/ improv pleasure.

I think it would look quite a bit cleaner than the 3pro pictured here.

The headphone jack on the front makes it much easier to use. I cant imagine wanting it on the back. Especially for those of us who rack. It would be much harder to get to.

I completely agree with this assessment. My pro style headphones don't have a very long cord, and I am actually quite glad it's on the front. Playing bass with headphones with a cord is still a major PITA but better through the front, IMO.

And the thing sounds absolutely KILLER!! Love it!!:bassist:
