Ampeg SVT 7 Pro Club

Its official Mr. Fedex dropped off my SVT-7PRO today. I hooked it up to my GK 212 neo cab. Man that cab can sing! That Ampeg tone shines through so well, solid, punchy, thunderous. This thing kicks butt. I am thrilled. The variety of tone is amazing, I'm loving the selector switch. I was hoping it would work well with the GK since its what I have that can handle the power, it does well. Home run Ampeg!

The 7-Pro that I purchased used a few weeks ago is still performing flawlessly.

I have gotten to use it on loads of gigs - the most extreme situation being the Saturday before St. Patrick's day when I had gigs all day long that spanned over a 14 hour period. I have even used it for a couple gigs in a band that I play guitar in (for the bass player) just to continue to gain trust with it. This past Saturday was my first gig I did not bring a backup amp (I did bring my SVT-DI just in case).

This thing seems to be a keeper.

I knew that there was going to be some overhang, but I was not sure about how the feet would work.. but I feel that it will be good to go! Duke told me that if I needed to.. he would send me some more feet (as if two ain't enough!) to put on the cabs if I wanted to lay them on their sides and stack them that way.. this is because of the rounded corner caps on the cab. But I think that I would have a board made that would fit tightly on the top of the cab and have a kinda soft set screw to keep it from moving to place the amp on for a more stable setting.

Taller ones would also let that tweeter breathe out the top of the cab a bit better.
Maybe diagonally just inside where the original feet are (draw a line between the opposite diagonal feet).
If the original feet have screws holding them on you could take them off & save them (in case of selling it sometime down the line, to put it back to its original state).
Just my $0.02...take with 0.02 grains of sodium chloride.

It is a good idea.. I went back and looked at the amp, the feet do have screws holding them on.. also. on the back panel of the amp there are four larger feet, I thought about swapping out the feet and see if that makes a difference.. If the amp was not under warranty, I would drill and tap new holes and move the feet in for a better sitting of the amp.. but I may just go with the board to set on top of the cab.. one that is painted the correct color! I have plenty of stock wood that I can use..

You could always stack them on their side!.... Ill bet that 1 x 112 rig would be a killer rig.... Im gonna get a AK cab if its the last thing that i do.. Most likely the 1855 hathor... Just had a semi- slim first quarter so im on hold for toy (oops. i mean TOOL ) purchases right now :)

Well I made a small platform for it to sit on.. just ruffing it out with a skill saw.. fits perfect! Now I have to paint it.. OH and lo-freq, it fits in such a fashion that it does not block any of the ports!

Oh I suppose I could counter bore some hole for the legs to sit in so that the amp would not be dancing but I don't think that I am going to need to do that.

I've done about 10 gigs with my SVT7-Pro since it arrived [new] DOA... with a dead pre-amp tube, the story of which is a couple of pages back in this thread.
Absolutely love the tone, and the sucker is LOUD, if I need it.
I also play it almost every day , but take my Markbass 121 to rehearsals due to being a light-weight combo.

I've been playing mine everyday, don't know if it matters but I've been doing burn ins with it, leaving it on for hours. I will play, take a break awhile, play, take a break. No problems to report. I love it but I don't like my GK 212 with it. It sounds muddy no matter what I do. I am thinking of selling and getting an Ampeg cab. I also play it with my 4 ohm Carvin brx 10.2. It sounds really great.

Old City, I have been using Hathor 1203's with my Seven Pro, I really like them at practice that is for sure.. I have not had a chance to gig them, first time isn't till late in July, we are opening for another band. But by that time, I will probably have some larger cabs.. I am really looking hard at the SVT-212av cabs. The other ones I am curious about are the DNA DNS 410 cabs.
