Ampeg SVT 7 Pro Club

Keeping your eyes closed doesn't make the problem go away.
Uh-huh...so is there some massive failure problem with the Rev G amps? If so, I haven't seen it. Yours may have failed but that isn't necessarily because of the design flaw that plagued earlier versions. So no need to get all snippy.

Give it some time, Mr. Ampeg. The REV G hasn't been out that long. And, I'm sure you're aware of the chip change in REV H.

Hold the phones!!!! Jimmy just admitted there was a design flaw ;)
I remember a while ago you arguing black and blue that there was not a design flaw and that all amps have the odd dud amp that fails, which is true but it was pretty obvious with the numbers that this amp has always been plagued with issues

But I don't feel the design of that amp is faulty, Smeet. That's my whole point. I think I simply plugged into a broken unit. It happens. I've seen and played enough of the Ampeg micro amps to know that it's not a faulty design but rather occasional manufacturing defects that are likely no more than any other company but seem magnified because they sell so many. And I certainly have no intention of dragging another good and well-intentioned company through the mud because of a manufacturing defect.

Well I guess I'll go shoot myself in the head. Maybe that would make you all happy.
that's a bit extreme and a little bit of an odd to say.
Someone shooting themselves in the head would not make me or anyone happy at all.
People not shooting would make me happy...

shooting off at the mouth ;)

OK, you want sharks? You'll get sharks.

arai, the way you defended TC so vehemently when they were busted calling 240w amps 450 and 750w, you are the absolute last person on earth who should be throwing stones at anyone for shooting their mouths off defending a company. This is why I mostly ignore you, and this is why after this post, you go right back on ignore.

dmk, given enough years, I'm sure I can lift quotes from you out of context that make you look like you're contradicting yourself, too. I'm way less concerned about you than you seem to be me, though, but congratulations for being such a fan of mine that you would even bother taking even a little time out of your life to go searching for quotes.

Fact is, none of you know the failure rate of the 7 Pro, and neither do I. What we DO know is that Ampeg has sold a ton of these amps, and some people had problems. There was an admitted design flaw when it first came out, and while there was subsequent reported failures, it apparently has not happened to everyone because I know of as many people with older 7 Pros that are doing fine as those who have had problems. I just played a borrowed older 7 Pro at a rehearsal spot our band rented out, and it worked just fine for the 4 hours I was there. I bought one myself last year with my own money and it's working fine after almost a year. Yes, it's had some updates over the years. So has the regular SVT, so has the B-15, so has every amp on the market if it's been out long enough. And hearsay on Talkbass isn't enough to prove that they fixed actual design flaws or if these updates were minor tweaks.

But God forbid that I ever defend my friends at LOUD/Ampeg. If I don't join the pitchfork and torches mob, I'm a corporate lackey. Whatever. Yeah, I know...it sucks when you get one that fails. But they're a well-intentioned company that does their best to make reliable amps that sound great, and if you think I should turn on my friends because of a couple problems here and there, I'd sure hate to have YOU as my fair-weather friends.

I want to hear about a continued clean bill of health with this 7 pro.. I truly want one... But I want it to be as flawless as my old SVT 2 non-pro was.. and svt3 non-pro and svt3 pro. .I never had one failure with those.. . My svt2 non-pros went around planet earth 3-4 times on planes, trains, trucks, sea boxes etc.. and it was all tube.. I had two in a rack.. Moved by forklifts and whatever... country to country. NEVER one failure..
If i knew that i could depend on a 7 Pro like that i would get on in an instant... Im thinking of going all ampeg again/ i was for decades. I dig the new 210 floor wedge cab..
Im still waiting though for the 7 pro to be as good as the others .From what i read here, it is not to that point..

svtb 15 I quite agree!
But in those forums you often find more people who have problems with something and people who have none don't write about that. I will test it for myself and I hope the 7-pro does it as good as my 3-pro did! Sorry, for my english but I think you know what I mean.

My Rev C has been great for about 4 years now. It has been gigged monthly. I have a PF350 for a backup/rehearsals. If it breaks, I will fix it.

Relax, Jimmy. Take a deep breath. We're only discussing a design flaw in a power board. It's not like we just learned that Obama has been given permission to run for a third term.
Oh good...politics on a board where we're not allowed to discuss it.

And no you weren't just discussing a power board. You put much effort into trying to make me look bad just because I believe in my company and its employees. So don't tell me to relax.
