Ampeg SVT-CL effects loop help

I have an Ampeg SVT-CL head and also a Boss GT-10b effects unit.
My guitarist told me the effects unit will sound better if I use the effects send & return, but when I look at the back of my head I can't seem to see where I would connect this way?
Does it have it? Can it be done?

Does it actually sound better? At the moment I am just plugging my bass into the units input and then from the effects unit output into the main bass input on the amp.

Not to sure about effects loops as I have normally just used pedals & connected them the same way I am doing currently.

Any help will be appreciated.

I call ********, especially if you have an effects unit like you do that has preamp models on it.

I can see (possibly) why plugging a effect pedal like a chorus into the FX loop might sound good (cause you can blend it) but plugging preamp models into an FX loop doesn't sound smart. Stick to what you're doing mate.
