Ampeg SVT vacuum tube D.I.?

REDDI seems a tiny bit tighter and brighter, and maybe there's a hint of compression that I don't notice in the REDDI.

Did you mean to use the REDDI in both places
Of course you could but just checking in to see if that's exactly what you meant
It would be great if you had a minute to post both DI's as well as from the amp
One of the greates bass tones I had gotten was with a V4B, with a dummy load on the output, and the pre going into either a DI box or straight in to the console
just can't rememeber that exact detail but know it sounded awesome and much better for many things than the Countryman which was a standard in the 80's

I had used an SVT-DI for most of the last decade or so. I think it is as advertised - a great tool for stage, studio and for making a lame sounding solid state amp sound better (to my ears, it didn't help much with good sounding solid state amps).

The only reason I no longer own one is because I recently found an SVP-CL in mint condition for a great deal on ebay - and I sold my SVT-DI to pay for it. Hopefully I'll be able to find one again. I have thought for a while that ampeg was going to release another tube pre-amp/di because I got an email from them asking for input on a couple possible configurations. I voted for a tube SVT-DI with added tone controls. Now I can't remember if this was before the SCR-DI came out (which I own and dig) or not.

Maybe Yamaha will do a new tube DI

I’d love to hear the REDDI vs PF50T transformer output if you do it.

I bought a Broughton P-15 and am happy with it but I’m always curious about the PF50T. And the SVTDI. I ❤️ Ampeg.
Nothing wrong with the Broughton! Josh did an outstanding job with it.

Anyway, I'm about to post a new thread comparing all 3 with little audio samples for each. Just have to figure out the best way to do it now that Soundcloud doesn't let you open their files on forums anymore.

Moot point now...I was thinking I might have heard some compression in the SVT-DI that I didn't hear in the REDDI, but making audio files of both proved me wrong.

I have done that as well with my V4B, and for my money, it and the PF-50T's tranny XLR out sound identical.

Hey, can anyone, who has Ampeg SVT DI, tell me, what output does he get with passive guitar (or active). If I set zero gain on my soundcard, I get -40db, which is the same as I get with passive DI, and it seems too low...Maybe something is wrong?
