Ampeg SVT vs V4BH

OP, I recommend you to have a look into Bergantino NV series. I've ended up with a

NV610 paired with SVT-CL. It's a sealed cab with classic looks and what a tone it has!

And congrats on your new Ampeg AV rig!

I Agree, I think your a perfect candidate for an NV 610.

I Use an SVT CL with a Berg 410. it was a tough choice between it and a 610. I only went for the 410 because I take taxis to gigs (every weekend) and I also like the modern tone as much as i like vintage thump. but the SVT through the NV Cabs is mind melting.

I had a V4BH and now I own a PF500. Although not as "sexy" as a choice, I would take the PF-500 any day over the V4BH.

The only thing the V4BH wins is in looks...sound/headroom/transport/potential less maintenance (unless it blows up) all go to the PF500.

Certainly NOTHING wrong with the V4BH- especially in the tone dept. I'd take it ANY day over ANY amp without power tubes if the output power is matched.
That's the only reason I didn't keep mine. Not QUITE enough CLEAN headroom.
I favour all tube amps for their tone- CLEAN tone that is. Sweet oversrive is an ADDED bonus.
I've used all tube amps all my life- 1st 100w (Aus made) VASE Bassman I got at 13y.o. in '76. I didn't even KNOW that they gave a nice overdrive until YEARS later.

I am with rod on this...not enough clean headroom. The V4BH would break up a bit too quickly, and sometimes not in a pleasant way. The PF500 is essentially plug and play. Technology wins out in this battle IMO.

But...YMMV. Both are killer heads and will sound like an Ampeg (the best!).
