Hey Tom, were you using that little epiphone for some grit! That looks like billy sheehan got his rig shrunk in the dryer!

I think that Im going to get a second one of these cabs. I really was thinking about getting another nv610 now that I have a vintage svt but I do remember that it was just too loud for alot of the gigs that I play and it really sounded better once the drivers got moving alittle. Two of these would probably sound better at lower volumes and be plenty at loud ones as well with enough watts pushing them.

That is my "rhythm guitar" rig. We only have one guitar player, so sometimes when he solos, I use my Uni-bass to send an octave-up (plus 5th) to that rig to double my bass lines on rhythm guitar. :cool:

Epifani UL series cabs are actually lighter than this cab and sound a HECK of a lot better not this cab doesnt Kick but i like it but if your going for good sound and light Epifani UL cabinets are the way to go and a markbass head

I used the little cab last night at band practice. It held it's own in a little room against acoustic rock drums, distorted guitar and small pa for vocals. This thing really sounded great! On it's own, the bottom end was alittle light at band volume but, with the other instruments mixed in, it actually sounded better that way. No mud, even sound dispersion, just the good sounding frequencies were present. The ones that make you sound good in a mix. Two of these guys could cover most gigs. I love this cab!

Id say yes for "small" gigs. If the kick is mic'd, you'd better get two of these. Two would be plently loud where it counts but, for those who want alot of super deep low end, look elsewhere. Thats not what these cabs do. They "sound" like old ampeg cabs or the bergantino nv610.

i've never played a gig without the kick mic'd. and i've played some pretty small bars. like 410 straight off stage. then again i've played some pretty big bars with a 410 straight off stage too. come to think about it, the only time i used a mic/DI is on festival stages with a sound crew.
i'm looking for something to use as a monitor (go direct off my head), for jams and practice, and maybe small bars were an 810 is much too big.

I played the Ampeg 200 head with this 210av cab today at the GC. It sounded quite nice to me. I was eyeballing the cab to add to my Ashdown 1x15 combo for live situations. Another bass player I know actually just asked me if I had heard of these, cause he played the head thru the cab and really was impressed. That kind of pushed me to try it since I value his opinion as a bassist. He already has three other set ups( ranging from smaller to extremely larger), but is still planning on getting this because he likes it so much.

and I'm picking it up this Friday. I was looking for something small for coffee shop open mikes and got tired of waiting for a stray avatar 1x12 to show up in the local Craig's List and running only through the house PA.

My regular rig for bar and venue gigs is a genz benz shuttle 6 and an avatar neo 4x10, so I was looking for something light that could go well with the mini power plant. I tested out the cab with the head at the local GC and it sounded quite nice. So this is my new impulse pick up... Thankfully I haven't seen any bad reviews yet.

The only annoying thing about the cab is the top of it, which doesn't work well with non-proprietary micro amps. This issue was apparent as soon as I tried it out. The handle on top of the cab doesn't sit well with the small amp feet of the genz, and the four recessed depressions for the oversized ampeg head feet add to the problem. This may be an issue with most heads other than the mini svt.

Re-mounting the handle to the side should take of part of the problem. Will have more info soon.

Here is the big question I have: Does anyone know anything about the eminenece drivers? The GC site says they are LF, so I suppose they have a bit more x-max, but with the weight and cost I'm assuming they might also be neos. Just curious. I couldn't find any other info on-line or at GC, and I haven't opened one up yet.

I am bumping this thing as I just ordered one of these cabs today. I'll post back my findings once I receive it next week. My cabinets have been in a state of flux lately, but my favorite cab I ever owned was an old 1970's Ampeg 8x10. I think I hate horns in cabinets. I've also owned four different Ampeg 4x10's (410HEN, a pair of 410HE's, and the BSE-410HLF). Since then I've owned a Sunn 410H, Fender Bassman 4x12, and most recently an Avatar 2x12.

I've been trying to find a good deal on an Avatar 4x10, but I think a pair of these Ampeg's would be sweet and give me a sound closer to the 8x10 I used to own and love. I ordered one as I also do studio work, and think this will be a great little studio cab. If I like it enough, I'll buy another one to make a nice portable rig for shows.

Anyone else tried these out that want to comment? Seems like there is not a lot of user information out there and next to nothing in the used market.

Hello!

I am not sure if this is what you want - but I did a review of the Acoustic mini against the Ampeg. It can be had at this link. My personal opinion on the Ampeg is that it is very clear and you can tell exactly how your fingers are changing the way the note is being played. But there is a serious loss of low end thump.

Though a real SVT 8x10 does not have ports - this little cab needs them. Maybe doing something clever like done with the 410HLF or 610HLF would have helped.
