Ampeg SVT212AV 2X12

Can't wait to hear the new V4B through my SVT412he!

Nice. I have your bass' twin, right down to the finish--sounds fantastic through my '70s V4B and an NV610.

Do you have that actual bass? I sold it a while ago. It had an integrated thumb rest/pickup ring on the neck pickup. I think I got a Hot Tubes pedal as part of the deal. I really wish I hadn't let it go.

Sell that 412 to me when your ready!

When I'm ready. In the meantime, I'm interesting in finding another...

Nope, I bought mine from the original owner, she's a former Lakland employee. Sorry you let yours go. I dig mine, but Lakland's new shortscale hollowbody is very tempting.

Has anyone tried the Ampeg SVT-212AV with a 300w Ampeg Classic Amp? I am thinking about getting one before my New Years gig so I can replace my Markbass 2x10 combo. Like the weight of the Markbass line but doesn't compare to the Ampeg tube sound.

I see one little detail, most would find insignificant. You can't run two 8 ohm cabs unless they (or at least one) have (has) two parallel connectors. I hope I'm just reading that wrong. Is it a deal-breaker? not for most, but for those with single connector 8 ohm cabs, bad luck.

Both the 112av and 212av have two parallel connectors ;) Don't think you need it with SVT's since the 90's, though. You should just be able to set it to 4 or 2 ohms and use the speaker out jacks as you will.

EDIT: Oops, just realized you meant the V4B, not the SVT. See my reply below.

I'm not interested in those cabs, but the amp sounds fun. My larger cabs are single connector 8 ohm cabs. I would only be able to use one, or "y" out of one of the 4 ohm outs. Like I said, it probably isn't a deal breaker for the vast majority, but 2-2 ohm outs and only a single 8 ohm out on a 100 watt amp? Would you suppose more users are going to want to hook up a pair of 8 ohm cabs, or four 4 ohm cabs? I'd bet 4 810's would be ok for bar gigs, ya?

The speaker outs are different than what we have done for bass amps. There's a single 8 ohm jack. 2 parallel 4ohm jacks and 2 parallel 2 ohms jacks. For the dual 4 and 2 ohm jacks, you can plug into just one if you are daisy-chaining the speakers. Or use both outs, one to each, speaker AS LONG AS THE TOTAL LOAD MATCHES.

YUP. missed that last part. Now it becomes clear....I DO need glasses :o

The block diagram, schematics, etc. are not available quite yet, so I am limited in what I can say about the components. The speaker outs are different than what we have done for bass amps. To add to this, just to be clear, you should use the 8 Ω speaker out jack, OR one or both of the 4 Ω jacks, OR one or both of the 2 Ω jacks. You should not mix the speaker output taps. For example, don't plug an 8 Ω cab into the 8 Ω jack AND a 4 Ω cab into the 4 Ω jack. This will result in an impedance mismatch.
