Yep, clutch screws. Nobody makes them anymore but you can find drivers for them at most hardware stores.
my 72 has allen screws on the back cover
Are you positive they're Allen? These clutch screws look pretty similar but are different... I also have a 72 but mine are def clutch screws.

I use my v4b in the band I play bass for and I love it.
No master volume so by the time I have the volume set where I need it it's pretty overdriven.
Idk how grindy you need but if you need a reference I believe Code Orange Kids recorded their new record using a V4. Might not be your thing but just as a reference.
I'd tell you to check out my band but I didn't have the V4 yet when the songs were recorded.
With that said, YMMV.

Hello all
I'm thinking maybe we can put a sign here: Ampeg V4B reissue owners welcome!
Cause there's gonna be a lot of happy new V4B owners pretty soon, and I speak only for myself, but I feel like this is their club too.
And this might be the place to discuss how the reissue stands against the original.
What do you think?
(And if Jimmy read his credit card number right this time, he'll get rid of the honorary mention![]()
#89: nayisthereason; V4B
#90: bigtexashonk; V4B
nouroog: great idea, it will be cool to see how they stack up against the originals. I'll add to the opening post.
I believe I was already number 83![]()
All I know is there's an announcement coming scheduled for August 1.
