Hello all
I'm thinking maybe we can put a sign here: Ampeg V4B reissue owners welcome! :)
Cause there's gonna be a lot of happy new V4B owners pretty soon, and I speak only for myself, but I feel like this is their club too.
And this might be the place to discuss how the reissue stands against the original.
What do you think?

(And if Jimmy read his credit card number right this time, he'll get rid of the honorary mention :)

I use my v4b in the band I play bass for and I love it.

No master volume so by the time I have the volume set where I need it it's pretty overdriven.

Idk how grindy you need but if you need a reference I believe Code Orange Kids recorded their new record using a V4. Might not be your thing but just as a reference.

I'd tell you to check out my band but I didn't have the V4 yet when the songs were recorded.

With that said, YMMV.

nouroog: great idea, it will be cool to see how they stack up against the originals. I'll add to the opening post.

All I know is there's an announcement coming scheduled for August 1.

Yeah, great - nice thing to find coming back from a holiday. And quite a bit (20 pounds!?) lighter than the old ones! Can't wait to test one alongside my '71. In case it is indeed so much lighter and sounds anywhere near an oldie, I'm already considering an exchange for my 'lightweight' rehearsal/back-up amp, a PF500... I really wouldn't mind those few extra pounds (Aw, how many times I've said that to myself already - LOL) when there finally is a useful 'light' all-tube option for us Ampeg freaks.
