Am I wrong using the word “soak” vs attenuator - cause that’s what we always called ‘em - or is that something different?

Per the plans, the shelf is 2 1/2" deep. I believe the effective length is extended by 3/4", which is the thickness of the front baffle.

With an EVM 15, the standard port is tuned to 55hz. Adding the cover and putting the cab into step down mode, tunes the port to 40hz. Step down mode extends the low frequency cutoff, but reduces efficiency and max SPL by 2-3dB.

I don't know the recommended tuning for the JBL. JBL's recommended cabinet for the E140 is tuned to 40hz. I don't know if this is relevant to the D140, but I believe the Ds tuned similar to the Es and Ks.

Yesterday I was playing with a group, it was a just little louder than usual and this is what I found - it didn't sound right with a long shelf as it did when playing solo. The long shelf was better at a low volume, but with a group the sound began to get muddy and suffocate. I had to roll back to the original TL606 setting with a closed central port.
I think both options have the right to life, depends of goal, but in a live mix and at a quiet volume these are different things.

That maybe I someone was misled, but that's how experience comes.

I ran an SVT-210-AV with my V4 until last week and it was… loud! Now using another extension cab (Garnet 1x15 fitted with an Eminence Beta) and now it’s… louder . Definitely annoying for the girlfriend and son with just a tiny bit on the volume pot!

Not going deaf is definitely not attainable!

Where did you find a Garnet?! They're from Winnipeg and rare as dodos!!! congrats..

In the Montreal area Kijiji. There were a couple last year (and I think one is still there, not much interest like Fender, even if Traynor and Garnet were as good!). Now residing in my son’s bedroom as his bass and guitar practice amp.

**Oops, misread, my Garnet Deputy bass combo was given to my son… The cab is still in my home studio. In fact, there is no logo and was sold to me as a Traynor cab but someone (here or on GuitarsCanada) identified it as a Garnet (or stencil) cab.

I knew Gar Gilles personally and went to his factory on Ferry road often . They aren't in the same league tonally as the newer boutique stuff but they were tough like old Peaveys and Traynors . Garnets generally had black grill cloth with the Garnet logos in the top left corner and usually came with Marsland speakers .

It looks like a Marsland in there , someone may have changed out the grill cloth . I haven't seen many with Fender type silver/grey, but I could be wrong

Replaced immediately with an Eminence Beta... Still have the Marsland.
