Ampeg Warranty woes subsided.

I've still been trying to decide between the Orange ADB200 and the Ampeg SVT CL, and with production moving overseas I've heard some really nasty warranty rumors. Anyway, I talked to our TB buddy Jerrold Tiers and I called LOUD and they both told me that warranty work is not going to be much, if any different. I asked what would happen if I bought a new product and something bad happened to it, and they said that 1. if the problem was serious enough, they would issue me a new product, and 2. if the problem was fixable and under warranty, that I could box the amp up and they would send me a UPS call tag and have it shipped out to a service center, have the work done and shipped back to me at no cost. This has eased my worries a lot and I just thought I'd pass this info along to others.

No, sadly everything is going to be produced overseas. This has been confirmed by Jerrold, LOUD and a local authorized Ampeg dealer(not Guitar Center), but it seems as though they're trying to make the best of it for us, and if I were to buy a new CL while I could still get a USA one, I wouldn't really expect anything bad to happen to it because everything that I've owned by Ampeg so far has been great.

yep its all going awy production wise....my music dealer dropped the whole line.....he said waht they are gonna do customer service wise is when you send in a warrenty issue with your usa model amp They are gonna send you a new one.....There whole reasoning being its cheaper to send you a new one than purchase parts and pay techs a salary and benefits to fix things. so send em your usa amp and get a chinese model in return.....what a deal......no thanks.

Aw come on fdx! This is a good thing. I mean it's a symbiotic economic one world globalistic hodgepodge that you're just not understanding because you fix jets and haven't studied enough economics. Economics not aeronautics! Get with it. Put down the micrometer and pick up the calculator. I got three words for you. Global wage arbitrage. Trust me when I tell you it's good for you. Just think, if you're lucky, one day you won't have to deal with planes at all. You can spend 8 hours a day standing near the exit at China-Mart with a Sharpie making sure I don't steal any cheap junk. And don't worry about the gnawing feeling in you gut from the massive paycut coming your way, it will be offset almost completely by the overwhelming sensation of intense symbiosis. It's good for you!:smug:
