Bass Pod XT Live. Sennheiser ears, hoping to move up to JH16's. We have touring rack with 4 sets of Sennheiser G3's, Crest 20X12 monitor board,everyone has own stereo in ear mix. Guitardists also use full processors. Total Roland/homebrew electronic kit. Drummer uses cans and buttkicker. Nothing but pristine monitoring from gig to gig.

Nice! Those JH16's at $1150 had darn well better sound awesome :) . Our drummer says we can pry his acoustic set out from under his cold, dead body but everyone else is pretty much direct. Our guitarist has a Fender Cyber but uses the direct out on the back and plays it so softly I can't hear it over the drums anyways. I'd sure like to move up to stereo ears though so maybe a dedicated monitor mixer is in the cards :) . I do have a 16 channel splitter so could just use a "regular" mixer. BTW my ears are just a $175 Galaxy AS-900 wireless with $38 UE SuperFi 4's and so far I'm OK with them.

Most (all?) wireless bodypacks have an internal adjustment to set the limiter - many folks turn them up past the default "safe" level, no need for a "booster" amp :) . I've always worn earplugs on stage (even 30 years ago) so am used to playing at a safe level anyways. I don't actually need any of my mic in my ears for singing backups as I can hear myself fine at the moderate level I run my ears at - even standing next to the acoustic drums :D .

BTW mine goes:

Bass -> Wireless -> FOH
Wireless -> IEM <- FOH

My IEM has two independent inputs with separate volume controls so I feed it directly from my instrument wireless and also from a monitor send from FOH so I can always hear myself even if my monitor mix kinda sucks. I just got in a Rolls PM351 Personal Monitor Mixer I might try too - this would let me mix in my vocal mic too so I'd have independent control of the levels in my IEM's of my bass, vocal, and a monitor mix from FOH :cool: .

IT took me a while to put the pieces together.....

My pedal board is more of a DI/IEM board.. can go wired or wireless.... straight di ... modeling... effects just about anything someone with a huge rack used to have... heck I can compress/eq my vox so the sound guy doesn't have to.

As a fill in guy, it's nice not to have to be at the mercy of monitor quality etc....

I do have amps... I RARELY ever play my Fridge.. IF necessary (or requested), I run a kickback

Your next minimialization would be to get all going through a recording interface vs mixer...

Nice! I've been using a small combo (Tech 21 Landmark 10" kickback) for a jazz jam band I also play with.

You can be "Ampless Bassist's Club #7" if you like :) .

That's for the practice space. Gigs, I don't have the cabs, but the QSC lives in the rack forever.

We have a PA set up in our rehearsal space so I go through that mostly for any family that is hanging around but we use our IEMs at rehearsals too.

BTW at gigs what do you put your rack up on? I prefer not to have anything visible behind me but I also would like to be able to "tweak" things easily. I'm thinking of maybe a fake floor monitor as a mini-rack as I need a spot to tape my setlist anyways?

Oh, and you can be "Ampless Bassist's Club #9" if you like :) .

My gigs aren't... typical at all. We play in theatres exclusively (we're operatic / theatrical heavy metal. Have actors, fire dancing, aerials, fighters, etc. on stage with us). No body has any amps on stage at all. No floor monitors, either! My rack ends up sitting on top of the guitarists head usually, way off stage. Next gig I'll snap a photo of how our rigs sit.

Awesome! Any videos up anywhere? :)

BTW I play a short scale with a single humbucker placed like a single pickup MM. I'd probably buy an EBMM if they made a short scale :cry: . No need for that full length thumb rest yous 5 stringers have :smug: - I don't mind reaching "up" for that occasional Eb :ninja:.
