I have 4 bass rigs, amps (amps w/ matching cabs so to speak), and I have been known to run direct in a pinch.

It all started when my amp got into some bad power and I whooped out the sansamp.

I was elated all night long just having the bass in my ears and was megahyper about the lack of loading out that I had to do!!!!!!! lol! :hyper:


I've seen bands that were 100% direct and they really sounded good.

Doesn't work for every situation for me, but it is an awesome option to have at my disposal.

I've also played a DI right into the pa and used a wedge for my bass for a 45 min festival set that was 3 hours away from my house and I was in my BMW... I was as happy as a pig in.... well you get the picture.

On the flip side I get a wild hair to play my 70's SVT and 810 and I'll load it up.

So you can just call me an honorary member!!! lol!

How do you handle getting the IEM cable to you? Do you have it taped to your instrument cord or ? These guys make a nice integrated instrument/IEM cable:

But - their whole wired system is more $$$ than a Galaxy AS-900 wireless system (which is working well for me so far :)) .

I use whatever is needed for the gig.. be that backline or not.
I've been ampless with my old band since last Oct (2016) and have been ampless at church for years.
Do I get a # ?? :)

I use all wired stuff for in ears and I just tape my headphone extension cable (https://www.amazon.com/Cable-Matter...50760&sr=8-3&keywords=15'+headphone+extension) to my instrument cable with electrical tape. I bought a 15' headphone extension and use a 20' instrument cable and haven't had any issues. Both of my cables are black so the tape isn't even visible.

Must be getting close to Halloween - the zombie threads are starting to pop up :wideyed: :D. This club died out at member #2 I think - I'll resurrect the list if there's interest these 6 years later.
The all IEM band I was in is long gone but one of my present bands has 9 freekin' members often sardined into a small bar stage :wideyed: so I just run my Zoom B1on into the board and a Mackie SRM150 mic stand mount monitor for myself. the latter has two inputs so I also run the PA signal to it so I can hear the others. I'm up against the wall next to the drummer on stage left. The PA is two Bose L1's with just the smaller B1 "subs" but has been plenty so far. I'll use an amp outdoors for bigger gigs.
I actually just picked up a Zoom MS60B which with it's latest firmware update has all the same pedals emulated as the B1on at twice the price and one less maximum pedal in the chains (plus a couple other deficits) :wideyed:. Other than that it is metal vs plastic (not a big deal IMO) and much easier to get in and out of tuner mode and adjust on the fly - basically optimized for live use. I'll try it on a gig next month.
My main rig is an Aguilar TH-350 and a pair of RevSound RS115X cabs. Generally use that with my other two gigging bands but also have may FrankenRig/PA that uses a Behringer XR12 mixer racked together with a four channel NU4-6000 and four channel Carvin DCM2004L. My bass signal and the kick mic go full range to my RS115X cabs in bass rig mode - added to that in PA mode any other inputs are split highs to the Galaxy Audio line arrays pole mounted over the bass cabs and the lows to the bass cabs as "subs". In PA mode one monitor channel is dedicated to me and three other mixes are available to the others. I only use a tuner pedal, I use the guitar OD FX in the XR12 on bass. Don't worry if you can't follow all that - the routing within the XR12 to make all that happen is mega-weird :D.
BTW RS115X cabs are 25 lbs each and the entire FrankenRig/PA rack with mixer and eight channels of power amps totaling 8 kilowatts weighs about 45 lbs. The Galaxy Audio line arrays are about 15 lbs each I think. My 10" coaxial monitors are 25 lbs each

I'm trying to figure out how to make some cable boxes that stack and look like cabinets.. so we can pull out our wires/cables and just stack them at the back of the stage as props. then when you're done, grab them and fill them and go. trying to make loading as easy as possible and to look kinda cool. To be honest, I don't think anyone except musicians notices a lack of amps anyway.
