Well I still prefer the sound of Amplitube finding it much more closely approximating the sound of my bass through an amp. Ampkit for my taste is sterile and cold. I don't think the sound of Amplitube is horrible by any means but there could be something about your bass and style of playing that doesn't work with that app which is fine. Fact is, there are a lot of happy users of Amplitube so it works for many people.

I never had any problems using either app with regards to crashing so it's not a universal phenomenon that affects everybody.

Anyone reading this thread should still try both apps since they are both free and then decide for themselves. Everyone has their own idea of what sounds good so let your ears guide you and nothing else.

What I consider the best practice app available on the iPhone is about to gain even more ground on the competition with this announcement.

GK is partnering ( among several others ) with IK so one can only assume that means the 800 RB model is due for inclusion.

The last update FUBar'd a lot of stuff. The sound is horrible now. I post over on TGP as well. They changed a lot and screwed a lot up. Made simple things much harder and the ability to get a good sound without a noise gate almost impossible.

They screwed a lot of folks on this one. Having spent that much dough on the whole thing just pi$$ed me off. AT folks could care less...they just say send us a sound file so we can figure it out. Bad FAQ section, Help is useless...it took major complaining on TGP before they updated either.

Sad part was the first version rocked. I loved it.

Proceed with caution.

The second version is a vast improvement in sound and features and if you are having problems, you should get tech support to help as many are running VERY well with this update and raving about how much better it is and having quite the opposite experience you have had. http://www.ikmultimedia.com/irig/support

I plan on picking up an Ampkit and then going with either or both popular software. Can anyone recommend which amp sims are worth buying for bass? They have a lot of amps you can download but at $5 a pop I only want a couple that sound good for bass. This is for both the Peavey Ampkit app and the Amplitube app.

I prefer the Ampeg model that Amplitube has. The Ampkit bass amp sounds very sterile to me.
