Amps with tweeters: what's the point?

A good set of speakers in a good cabinet will need no tweeters believe me. I use Legend BP102 speakers & they are full-on rumble city.I dont use any tweeters & they still produce enough top-end for me. When i plug the RBI in its High-end time. Though the BP`s are voiced low & cut-out @ around 2-3khz they produce the perfect top note for me.
I cant stand tweeters having a 10` or 15` produce the high-end it natrually has in it is much better than having a tweeter imo.

Cabs with no HF driver leave out a bunch of information from your signal. Even though with electric bass much of the signal is carried through the LF drivers, speakers without any type of Hi mid driver or HF drivers leave a lot of nuances out of your signal.

Now whether or not you want that extra info in your signal is up to the player. But even speakers as small as tens drop off well before the upper ranges or your instrument is reached. To my ears its like night and day. I can instantly tell when I'm playing thru a cab with a busted tweeter, no tweeter, or highly attenuated tweeter.

Without all the technical pooha - a tweeter adds some glassyness/'air' to your signal.
You'll sound less vintage.


Personally I play a cab with a tweeter (attenuator halfway) and a cab without a tweeter. That makes about 25% tweeter, but nobody will notice anyway if you play trough a PA :)

Trebley high notes can give you th missing high notes but it can also make things sound horrible at the same time. I just a review on YT about the Fender T.V 10` & 15` cabs.Man they sound hot.No tweeters & they have that warm bassy sound.
Speakers generate their own freq & will produce what ever they are designed for.Some have more high-end some less.
If you like fat vintage sound its without a tweeter.

the fundamental notes your playing are infact low frequencies. however 1. overtones, as mentioned earlier, and 2. when your playing with new strings unplugged, you know all that string "clank" or high-end thats there? thats just as much a part of your sound (if you like fresh rounds) as the fundamental is. tweeters do just that.

i highly reccomend having some kind of high frequency component in your rig. playing alone you might not like the sound but with a band it helps you cut through a lot. infact, its probably why most rigs have one..
