Double Bass AMT - Applied Microphone Technology Inc. - My Awful Experience

AMT recently lost their main sales and artist relations guy, Ron Oswanski, who started his own, very similar mic company called EVNO. The mics look almost identical, and they’re getting great reviews. Might be worth looking into.
Yes, this is right, Ron left AMT and started his own company called EVNO. I just recently picked up the EVNO ABX. Ben Wolkins, the trumpet player in my quartet has been using one of their mics and loves it. We’ve been on the road a lot more and I wanted to have a little more control over my sound. It’s a great mic. Transparent and very easy to set up. I used it at the Blue Llama (Jazz Club in Ann Arbor) this past week and it was very honestly the first time I ever had a genuine MBOL sound in a club. I’m looking forward to using in different settings. Definitely worth checking out.

Sweetwater is proven not to fail as far as shipping / customer service. I see the appeal dealing directly with a local company, but as you found out, it is still somewhat a gamble. If you see product sold by the manufacturer directly but also [at the same price] by established and well oiled business such as Sweetwater, Guitar Center, Amazon and such, use latter ones - just less uncertainty.

Something to add now that I have the mic. Microphone seems to work as it should. The preamp plug sticks when you put an XLR in it and is hard to remove after the gig. Also, the gooseneck on the current model is quite flimsy and not as robust as the model I had before which means that the positioning of the mic is a little more fragile than before. If you move the bass suddenly the mic position will change. It's a shame because the old one stayed in place no matter what you did with the instrument.

Another AMT horror story to pile on: I sent them my S25 to repair a bad connection in the cable to the preamp. That was in August 2025. They kept the mic and theoretically repaired it. I paid the PayPal repair invoice in November 2025. Every couple if weeks I wrote or called Luke until the mail started returning non-deliverable errors and the phone was disconnected.

I got the repair fee back on appeal to my bank, but I still don’t have the mic. Has anybody else hired a lawyer to get their property back?

Oof. I think a few hours of lawyer time will cost more than a new mic, unfortunately.
