"Rock and Roll" can just be the long form of "Rock", which again in its widest interpretation can mean just about anything except classical.
I still cannot fathom this opinion.
How exactly does one "hate" Rush? This is not possible.

In the LA Times, it says he gave Farewell to Kings zero stars and described it as being "Worthless. [A record] that need never (or should never) have been created".

Kinda ironic that Rush Deep Purple & Heart lead the voting: the fans know the great bands better than the people in charge of the RRHOF...
...that said, if I were in those bands, and was voted in, in 2012, I wouldn't consider it an honor, after years...a decade +...of being snubbed, for lesser artists/bands. I do believe I'd arrange to be 'not available' for the induction...

Its hard to say no to the cash that comes with it though...Probably less than it used to, but they get a bump in sales.
We already know Rush kicks ass and the Hall o' Fame is a joke... will getting in make a bit of difference in how amazing Rush is? NO!

and as Rush has mentioned before, the R&RHOF is really not of much importance to them. I think it would be great if they weren't there for the awards, or even better, said, "Thanks but no thanks". I also think that their legions of fans don't need the nomination to validate their status in the rock world, and beyond those legions, who cares?
I think that pretty well sums it up. I'd say Rush cares a lot more about their fans than the HOF.
