An evil repealed: Rush nominated for Rock n Roll HOF!

RUSH hasn't been great like they were since 1984. Maybe that has something to do with the big wait.

I wish they'd do an all instrumental prog extravaganza album. MOOG, Rickenbackers, bizaar timings...no smiling onstage, either! Geddy just don't have the screach he once had.

There are bands in the HOF that haven't done a thing since 1984. The fact that Rush has endured, changing to suit the time and the market, and as its members aged, is just more proof as to the greatness of this band. My favorite Rush music was in the late 70's/early 80's too, but the stuff they've created since is just as relevant...just not for me.

I hope Donna Summer gets in instead. That would be more appropriate for such a mis-named organization.
The only shoe-ins for this year are Public Enemy and N.W.A.

Donna Summer and Chic are probables. Deep Purple and Rush - too deserving and too "rock" for the R&RHOF.

While I don't have a problem with Rush's nomination, especially considering the dearth of progressive-related bands, it is absolutely ridiculous that they'd be inducted ahead of The Moody Blues, Yes and King Crimson.

Of all these nominees, the one that I'd most enjoy seeing inducted is Procol Harum. Like the Moodies, they were seminal progressive, and their Salty Dog album remains a treasure.

Wow, there are a lot of good ones this year! I can see almost all of them deserving a spot. I vote for Rush, Chic, Heart, Donna Summer and NWA "or" Public Enemy. The name really should be changed to something other than "Rock & Roll Hall of Fame". Maybe, Music's Most Influential Artists Society. Not as catchy as RRHF but a better description. But most of us have to remember this HOF isn't (and never should have been) just about "Rock & Roll" music.

I think it would be really sweet if they didn`t show up for their induction(if it happens). The RRHOF should change their name to the Pop HOF. They could justify inductions of Madonna & ABBA, then. Pisses me off that it took THIS long, but at the same time, YES SHOULD already be in.

I've been there a couple of times too. They have some cool memorabilia and a nice gift shop. Other than that, not much there ;)

The only thing I found truly awe-inspiring about the RRHOF is the top floor, the apex of the pyramid, where the plaques honoring the inductees line the walls. It's like a shrine. It's dark, subdued, the plaques are black with gold images and lettering, the lighting is low. When I visited and went to that room, it was filled with only hushed respectful whispers. A room full of people and hardly a sound, like a mausoleum. Very moving, especially for a musician.

As a point of reference, here's a list of potential nominees and the likelihood of their nomination and induction. I thought it was interesting. (NOTE: I don't know how old this is, some of these artists may have been nominated by now.)
