Guitar players are lucky. They can use tiny low wattage amps and still be relatively loud. Bass amps at that low price range don't usually hang too well with rock bands, plus they tend not to have a lot of features or they're digital and suck. I'll mention that Ampeg now has analog overdrive on their little BA series practice amps. Pretty decent overdrive, too. Don't expect to have much luck keeping up with a hard rock band using the smaller ones, but they do sound good and the larger ones can hang in louder situations.
