And another sarcastic CL ad.

Oh, it is funny. BUT... I realized that it was REALLY about guitar players, as I was slowly driving under the interstate, waving a 6 pack of Keystone beer, trying to attract guitar players to audition for my band.

In 1982 I answered an add in the local musicians publication (at least that is how it started out in the mid 60's), and was invited to play the next gig as a paid audition. no problem, went well right up until the lead guit needed a note from his boss at the cleaning company. The cat was let out of State Prison to clean office buildings, not play in a bar. Kinda funny, but not really as they looked to me to fake this note. He hired a new guit who while new was coming up fast.

later I watched the BL steal, lie and spread some pretty nasty rumors about a couple of people because they didn't hit on his skank wife/GF or whatever she was. I grabbed the new guit and formed a pretty decent band that lasted eight or more years.

Same here in Georgia with a few exceptions: My probation officer lets me stay out until 1 am with prior written consent from a band leader that isn't a felon (that is hard to get around here).

Also--it is 1000 yards from a school, park or public housing. Almost every square inch of Savannah is public housing---so, I have to go incognito to those gigs and be back to the halfway house by 12.
Don't you hate it when the tracking signal on your ankle bracelet interferes with your wireless?

It is old, it is a repeat, but I find it is still hilarious. Put a smile on my face once again. The part about pocket playing is the highlight. Makes me wonder - $30 for each "E" or "B" holding the root of Em and Bm chord, or is just a one-time charge per song to "learn" those notes? It is also funny that he doesn't do E - isn't the first note everyone plays on a bass?

I like those CL ads where someone does an actual reply to an actual ad and shreds the original poster to ribbons. And then you get either a pile on or a spirited back and forth. Knowing this is real and involves real musicians in my territory, some I probably have met and know, is great entertainment. And it usually gets to some specific and real dysfunctions of the musicians and venues in my area. Those tend to be not only hilarious but educational as well.

OK, so my gig with Paul McCartney didn't work out after he realized I was better than him and that gig with Elton John was short lived after I found out he was gay--not that there is anything wrong with that but who knew?? So, I am posting again:
Bass Player available for PAYING GIGS only.
I play G,C,D. If your songs are not in G, please transpose them into G.
If your song has an Em or Bm or anything off the wall, I will probably sit out that chord. Or I could learn those notes for $30 each. If you want me to do fancy stuff like go back and forth between G and D while you hold a G chord, forget it because I am a pocket player.
Minimum $100 per gig within a 5 mile radius of downtown Phoenix, $5 per mile travel charge for other areas "out of town". Please make sure your gigs are on a metro bus route or you can pick me up at my girlfriends place.
Must be home by 11pm due to previous legal hassles.
No gigs within 500 yards of schools, parks or playgrounds.
Funny as Scheisse!
