I also plan onto splitting the drive there over the course of 3 days which will allow me to spend a little time in Ottawa, Toronto and Detroit. I plan onto seeing the Ford Museum in the burbs but then again, suggestions welcome. Ottawa I know very well but Detroit and Toronto not so much.

I dropped my daughter off for a Bus to Chicago to visit her sis Friday afternoon. . . it was beautiful,great weather. I cursed I didn't know where you were, could have taken you for some great Arabic food as my first choice or wherever - hosting an out-of-towner is always fun. Hope your visit to the wilds of America is safe, fun and productive.

Comet is the one I would recommend, though I did a lot of studying at Espresso Royale back when I was in school there (I went to the one on South University, not State street).

Most of the other attractions have been mentioned, but I'll reiterate a couple (I lived in Ann Arbor for 7ish years not too long ago). Ashley's is a must if you are into beer, they have the best selection in town by a long shot. If you hit up Main Street, there are a lot of good places to eat - my favorite is the Real Seafood Co. Pricey, but if you like seafood you can't go wrong there. The prickley pear is good upper-scale-ish mexican (maybe TexMex, it's been a while), Palio is awesome. For cheap eats, the Brown Jug and Charley's (both on South U) are pretty standard bar fare (usually with cheap drink specials).

Also, if you like the outdoors, spend an afternoon in the Arb, it's pretty great. Also, there are some good trails on North Campus by the Bates dorms.

If you are a gross frat-boy type, check out Rick's on Church street or Scorkeepers (can't remember the street it's on) for late night shenanigans (I'm not a fan of either place, but they are pretty popular). Also, Necto is the closest to a "club" in the city, it can be fun depending on the night of the week (goth night is hilarious, gay night is, well ... also hilarious).

No problem! I had a great time when I lived there, and I hope the same to you!

OH. I almost forgot to suggest Mani Osteria (can't remember the cross streets, but it's right across from Bar Louie). I only went there once, as it's pretty new, but it was SO GOOD. It's on the pricier side, but they do small plates, so it might be good for a happy hour with a couple appetizers or something. The Pizza there is phenominal, I think I had one with prosciutto and pistachios.
