Annoying Latency! Help!

I mean...it doesn't look like that much work to just take pedals out of the chain. Does the Sansamp factor into the bypassed signal you speak of? If not, what does that blend knob on the Sansamp do? I have never owned one of those, so I am pretty unfamiliar with them.

Maybe you are taxing that Donner power supply which is causing a digital pedal to lag.

If your sound 'feels' sluggish, replace your pickups with something that has a higher output. Then go straight into a boost pedal to make sure you have a loud and clean signal when it hits the pedal board.

I don't think its latency per se, but your signal isn't hot enough for the way you want to play. I'd even go further and replace all your patch cables to high quality brand, and test all your pedals for any faults. Make sure your entire signal flow is bullet proof.

While a genuinely thorough "elimination test" approach to troubleshooting should indeed include all of the cables as well as all of the pedals, there is nothing that can go "bad" in a ~6" shielded copper analog patchcord that would cause latency. Hum, buzz, intermitancy, distortion even...but not latency.

Ooh, good point: If OP is standing, oh, say several hundred feet away from his speakers there would indeed be some latency! :)

As fas as I'm aware, the Sansamp has a buffered bypass in the same fashion as the VT Bass Deluxe I used to own. I forget the specifics, but it's the way to avoid issues with the XLR DI when engaged vs bypassed.

The soft volume function shouldn't be in the path when bypassed, but maybe if a knob is somehow sitting in a position where it's constantly sending "signal change" messages to the brain, that could cause some sort of freakout? Idunno.

I'd probably try yanking one, then the other, of the two potential offenders, and running them alone (and then together if need be) as the first steps in troubleshooting. Then onward in the meticulous process of elimination.

No, I'm reading. Mostly smart ass comments, but there are some useful tips here. I've been playing for 27 years, and I'm smart enough (or dumb enough) to know that I can do the elimination test, but I was hoping it was an obvious issue that I may have missed. Last night, I plugged my board in to my amp, as is, and everything worked fine. I noticed the latency the other night when I ran direct in to a DI box through a house PA in a local venue. I think I'll do some more experimenting and hopefully figure this sporadic issue out on my own.

i think i see a couple square inches of space between the infinity and the superego, maybe you could jam another buffer or tap tempo box in there :D

to the original point, i also see like what, five or six digital pedals on there? @Bob_Ross is still correct, those pedals could conceivably cause latency but the patchcords themselves? not a chance

When running direct there's a whole other signal chain to suspect as well. Were you monitoring through a stage amp or just via stage monitors/IEMs?
