ANOTHER Behringer Cutting Out Issue

You are driving a very small amp well into output limiting/clipping. At this level of amp, it's simply protecting itself from something it was not designed for 300 watts is not based on RMS metrics, it's closer to 150 watts RMS when compared to other amps that use RMS units. When you drive an amp this hard (relative to it's rated output) it needs to have greater margin to accommodate the overload. This costs money.

I think this is a classic case of just the wrong tool for the job.

Sounds like the head is pooping out with lower impedance loads. Any amp will run hotter at lower impedances but it should handle 4ohm loads.

Only red flag is if your using parrallel jacks on your cabs to daisy chain. Thats totally fine.

Only concern is might be wiring issue or bad cable or jack in the cab or your chords.

Amp should be alright at 4 ohms.
Unless for some reason the cabs have been modded or changed by previous owner. Might say 8ohms but could be 4ohms. If it is for some reason . running both cabs would present a impedance to low and over heat it. Or since its cutting in and out. Could be loose intermittent wiring in the cab. Or a incorrectly bypassed tweeter which is causing problems.

The “chords” he’s playing aren’t the problem technically but they could be for the audience. :)

UPDATE:

The Acoustic never cut out, but sounded like crap. Loud, but couldn't get a tone i liked. Took it back to Guitar Center and ordered THIS baby instead! Peavey Minimax, 500 watts! I LOVE my Peavey Mark IV head, but it's getting crackly, so it's back to Peavey for me!

Yeah, I have a couple of Behringer EPX 3000 power amps that I use for PA. Never an issue there. However, I decided to front one with my ADA MB-1 preamp, and it easily went into protection mode when I hit some hard notes. Same cables and speakers I always use. I decided that was not a good use for them. Same setup with a Rocktron power amp or a Monoprice power amp does not cut out. I think the Behringers trip easier than most.

Well, according to Behringer support, the guy said my cabs are "WAY too big" for this head. How/why are they WAY too big?

I have two 8 ohm cabs, 800 watts max each. Both are connected, equaling 4 ohms. The head is a 300 watt @ 4ohm unit.

What's the problem???

You'd THINK the "support" person would know his poopie... :spit:
Different companies and different areas within a company often offer different levels of support. It's a big company with a lot of people, so it's not too surprising.
