My wife does and it grosses me out. I grew up an east coast traditionalist, meaning there are only two ways to eat dogs; mustard and sauerkraut (kosher dog or Nathan's); and NYC street dog with onions in a tomatoey, watery sauce (Sabretts). I am fond of Chicago dogs though.

Walk around the beach w Nathan's (mustard & kraut), slice of cheesecake to go. Maybe a chili dog w onions, if the chili is good. Try swapping kimchi for sauerkraut sometime (kinda like spicy relish/kraut).

When I was little, I loved hot dogs - usually I put on ketchup. Don't eat hot dogs much now, but gotta have 1 or 3 on the 4th!

Finally... a serious question!

I usually make two dogs, both split down the middle and both must be charcoal grilled only. Non negotiable.

First one is dressed with diced onions, ketchup and mustard.

The other wears kraut and mustard only

On toasted New England style buns

It is imo the tastiest way to do it.

Regardless. I support the right of any human being to choose the condiments of their liking - without fear of violence, hatred, or backlash - for the specific hotdog of their choice. I will not force my particular brand of favorite hotdog toppings on anyone, and I simply wish to be treated with the same accord, no matter if my hotdog toppings are consistent eith other people’s choices or not.

That being said - sweet relish can suck eggs. Only dill on an all beef dog for this guy

Some interesting condiment ideas here - I've had steamed hot dogs, but never heard of a steamed bun, tomato slices nor peanut butter. I've eaten a hot dog & cole slaw on my plate, never on the dog. Yet.

What's the difference between relish & a pickle - a crisp pickle will give you a crunch, but anything else? What's a hot dog I should look for during my next Chicago layover?

Chicago dog through the garden (means with everything); they are delicious.

And my new all-time favorite is a sonoran dog (found in the Tucson area in the states; bacon-wrapped dog grilled, served on an oversized Mexican bun topped with pinto beans, grilled onions, three sauces (red salsa, crema, and avocado sauce (red, white, green for Mex flag). Topped with a grilled hot pepper. Amazing dogs - I dare anyone to eat just one.

I can't abide ketchup on my frank. Tried several times. It's weird because I eat it on many things such as burgers, fries, and even eggs once in awhile. And I can do a whole host of condiments on my dog including relish, onion, mustard, etc. But that combo of ketchup and a dog just about gags me.

No, I will never eat ketchup on my hotdog. I'm a brown mustard/relish guy. Sauerkraut works too but I usually don't have any handy at home... I say at home as I can't usually find vegan dogs in the wild (hotdogs or actual dogs)...
