Well, the overt sassiness of the myrtlist fretless is leading down a primrose path towards another build. While I dig the spalted fretted, I am smitten with the light weight and oil finish on the freltess. So I'm thinking...

walnut top - oil finish (though I'd consider another myrtle if it were a darker piece)
ash body

Beyond that I'm wondering about switching a few things up:

maple/wenge/maple neck (love the way these look)
wenge fingerboard or a two-tone sapwood

Nordy big singles rather than Barts

On the fence about the neck and especially the pups - don't want to go too far astray.

for instance, I love this top:

OK. it's not a Roscoe, but it is (Claro) Walnut (tuned E-C).
Claro front and back, maple layers between a chambered mahogany body.
It's dark sounding even tho there's a single transducer piezo 'pup in the bridge. The piezo is a bit of a pain - why I ordered the Roscoe.
But it does look good and plays well - just not the tone I was looking for.

oh, I know Koa :D

I'd actually consider koa as well, I just don't want to pay a ton of money and the nice stuff tends to be pricey. Unless Gard gives me a deal - maybe I need to get on the local news again :p

Yeah, I've always loved the oil finished basses. It's great to see Roscoe start doing more of them.
They just look high class!

Walnut or Koa ..... IMO you can't go wrong with either one.

Good luck, Todd! I loves me some walnut, sonically and aesthetically. Probably goes without saying, but how about pinging Gard for some sexy pics to see if anything floats your boat.

Pickups. Nords are cool, but IMO Roscoes are all about Barts. Maybe 'Classic' instead of 'Roscoe' but I know I'd be afraid to stray further.
