I won't pretend to be able to tell. I'm definitely in the "Fender ain't necessarily the best" camp and I'd be willing to bet that a simple pickup swap would result in each of the basses sounding just like the other.
So, I didn't vote but if I had to choose favorites here's my order:
First Place: Bass 2
Second Place: Bass 3
Third Place: Bass 1
I'm interested to see which is which.
My feelings, too. Oddly, I thought 1 and 3 sounded more alike, with 2 being the outlier, yet 3 has the rosewood vs maple on the other two. 3 had a little more punch than 1. 2 had the punch and richer low mids than either. Subtle differences either way. They all sound like P-basses to me and I've never been a brand snob, so I won't be embarrassed if my favorite turns out to be a cheap copy. It's a lot easier for me to pick a P bass out of a crowd of other styles than to discern between different models or brands of P-basses. in spite of preference, I voted 3 was the Fender. It was the better sounding of the two that sounded most similar.
