Just a thought, make sure that the weight of the clamp isn’t what was counteracting the neck dive. You might want to attach the strap with some painter’s tape (over a couch or bed just in case the tape gives out) just to be certain.

Good observation!
The clamp weighs 160 grams. About as much as a rifle bullet (according to Google).

It gets even better: there's a block on the bottom side that gets embedded into the body.

A rifle bullet is typically more like 160 grains, which is ~10.4 grams. A 160 gram bullet is closer to a 25mm machine gun round, which is some serious firepower for your tank!

New development:

I decided to try solving the issue through improving the strap before drilling any new holes in my bass.
I hooked my strap to my pants' right-side belt hoop with a carabiner hook. And I have to admit: it does a pretty good job! A bit of a hassle, but the result is there and the bass stays almost 100% put.
My strap is already 3.5" wide at the shoulder, but the fabric is pretty soft. So I ordered Gummy Strap pads to see if this fixes the remaining bit of shoulder slippage.
