Another Ohm question

Not unless each of those 8 ohm speaker outputs came from a separate amp--in other words, if it was a stereo amplifier. His amp is a Trace Elliot GP7SM which is not a stereo amp. It's one amp. Mono. It's rated to operate safely to 4 ohms. He can connect an 8 ohm cabinet to each of those speaker cabinets safely and will thereby be operating at 4 ohms, and getting the full power available from his amp.

Yup! As long as he does not put another 4 ohm cabinet on the "other" line also he'll be fine. Otherwise it'll be down to 2ohms.

I wasn't planning on doing so, was just a hypathetical(sp?) question

So if I am only using the one 4ohm cab my amp is working 8 ohms, right?

Are ohms proportional or anti-proportional?
8ohm amp into 8ohm cab= working at 8ohms
8ohm amp into two 4ohm cabs=amp giving out 4ohms to each

Does that make any sense?

So it's only dependant on the cab, and not what is sais on the the back of my amp. The "8Ohms" on my amp is then just a suggestion or maximum? Or why do they write it on the back?
Sorry about my horrable questions, but this is how I learn best

But most amps can handle higher impedance (Ohms), the troubles start when you go lower then the recommended impedance (like 2.67 Ohm when you hook a 8 ohm and a 4 ohm cab on a 4 ohm-amp) ... watch out when you go there!
