Another straplok thread

I've been using Dunlops for years. I just replaced the horn end on the bass I've been using since 1997. I've worn out Schallers in a lot less time than that. I will say the generic versions of the Dunlops are a little less quality and stick more.

Since we're on the topic, I know a couple of dudes who drill wide pilot holes in their basses and screw in thick metal hooks. They attach their straps with carabiners. I'm pretty sure these won't fail unless the whole upper horn breaks clean off the bass.

...I have had the reciever end come loose. Nothing a piece of tooth pick, some glue and a reattachment doesn't cure in a moment...

Totally worth highlighting. All straplocks can suffer from this point of failure, and nothing works like a combo of toothpick and glue! Straplocks should come with a half-toothpick in the package for installation.

I've never successfully worn out a pair of Schallers. How have yours failed on you? (At the button end?)
