Answer to the Gibson Grabber Case Dilemma?

Another challenge with casing a Grabber is the wider-than-usual head. I don't even like to put mine in a Ripper case because the tuners bump the case, and knock it out of tune.......Just out of curiosity, does anybody know if Gibson Grabber cases have wider head space than their Ripper case, or are they the same case???

I don't know if it's a grabber vs ripper thing or a year thing within the grabber line. I have a 78 G3 and an 82 Grabber. I had a really beat up case for the G3 (screwed, nailed, and glued together in placed, replacement handle) and a non-original case for my grabber. I just picked up another case from a 75 G3 that being parted out on ebay and low and behold the Grabber tuning keys are just too wide for the case. Like 1/8" on either side. I could probably stuff it in there on an angle and it would fit but don't want to chance it. I know my 82 has a slightly larger headstock but now that I'm typing this out and thinking about it, it could be because I have a hipshot D-tuner on the Grabber and it sticks out a little further than the stock tuners. Either way, if anyone is looking for a really beat up but fairly cheap G3 case...

It's a little snug round the edges, but my G-3 fits in a Protec Contego gig bag...great gig bags too!

Hello, this case fits my G3 perfectly it's the Xtreme case, meant for Explorers etc. From Thomann in Germany, only cost me £60 including postage. Hope this helps someone. I've had my G3 since 1976 this is the first case I've found that fits. John

Hey Johnny - thanks for posting. Quick question. What's going on with the top of the headstock? Is it just the image or is it tucked under something. I'm thinking about getting this for my Grabber. Thanks again! Derek

I think its just the shadow from the top edge of the case

Since buying the Thomann case I've found that in use the covering is very prone to tearing, definitely not one for the 'World Tour'
