Anthony Bourdain died

I didn't know much about him, and had only recently started watching "Parts Unknown" after being captivated less by its culinary aspect and more by its cinematography and sound design. But Bourdain instantly struck me as someone I'd like to share a beer with. Sympathies to his family, friends, colleagues and fans.

:(
I always enjoyed his shows....been watching for years and saw him at a sit down
discussion show a couple of years ago. I can't help but wonder what was so wrong in his world that he felt the only answer was to take his own life.
RIP

Not politically correct and a great, fun watch. At his age, I don’t know how he kept drinking like he did:maybe he slowed down, but he looked like hell the last several times I saw him on the shows.

Reminded me of “Floyd on Fish” for all you old foodies: another guy where crazy hours and heavy drinking were just apart of the plot, with food somewhere around. Another one gone before his time.

Damn, this is sad. I used to work with a lady based in NYC who knew him a bit (she also ran a bookstore with some friends), and she said he was just as you'd expect him to be in person--hilarious and, well, uncensored. I didn't catch his series often, but I really enjoyed them when I did.

I haven't seen any of his television shows, but he cemented a place in my heart with one particular chapter in Kitchen Confidential in which he described being in a sushi bar in Tokyo and giving the sushi chef free reign to serve him anything he wanted. The description of the joy and emotions and sensations . . . That chapter was phenomenal, and really distilled, for me, who Bourdain was. He seemed after that to pack twice as much life into every moment than the rest of us.

Very sad to hear this. I always enjoyed his shows when I had a chance to watch them. It's seems so inexplicable when you hear of someone who basically 'had it all' takes their own life, but I suppose it proves no one is immune to what life can throw against them. RIP
