Yes, it can be a very effective 'solution'... or can be botched badly, like just about any other method.

I seriously can't tell if you're being oblique and obscure on purpose, hinting / not hinting, playing around with this, whatever. There is never a good time to play around, and this would be particularly tacky. I am inclined to take people seriously who hint around suicide or needing help, because generally there's something to it.
If you need that number, please call it. Or call a friend or loved one or someone in your circle. I am far away from you probably, but I can have someone on your doorstep within an hour. There was a dude on here some years ago who made a big-time suicide gesture, and although he was a continent and an ocean and part of another continent away from me, I did get someone to him before he killed himself. It took me four hours of non-stop work, but I did it. Guarantee you I learned lots of things from that and will be much quicker the next time. If you take that as a threat by me to do everything in my power to save your life, good.

I honestly had no idea he was shacked up with Asia Argento - that poor woman has had more than her fair share of rough breaks. Hope she gets through this, given time.

I have had a couple friends commit suicide, so I am quite familiar with the phenomenon. I don't think they would begrudge me some gallows humor.
If they would, they're sending no signs at present....

I am very conflicted about this. I've been watching the guy on TV since No Reservations on the Travel Channel. You would think that a guy that spent so much time finding the good in things, empathizing, and putting himself in other people's shoes would have a strong sense of himself. When a guy like Cornell or Bennington do themselves in, you can see the "tortured artist" in it. Hunter S Thompson was always a loose canon; impulsive and maniacal. Bourdain seemed like he had is stuff together. Why would someone that took so much joy out of squeezing the hedonistic juice out of life just cash in his chips?

Yeah. It’s also odd that it was during a taping of his show, which he’s done a million times, in France, where he’s done a million episodes, with his friend that French chef there. I wonder if something awful happened out of the blue, or one final straw to break the camels back, or he was high. I don’t know. It’s tragic regardless but I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t curious about why he did it.
We do. The problem is society shames us, not to mention doesn't take us seriously.
