as much as these threads annoy me, the one positive that comes out of it is that people always suggest some awesome new music to listen to. dang, i may need a bigger Ipod!

Hey Kieth, you ever heard of the Cetan Clawson Revolution or the Hard Lessons?

They are both out of Detroit and I've had the good fortune to play shows with them over the summer, they are both pretty sweet bands.

Oh awesome. I've seen the Hard Lessons. They're a great group. I'm waiting for them to come around again!

Cetan is pretty small right now, but he is basically trying to be the next Hendrix... and it is working! he is such an amazing guitar player... of course, he doesn't compare himself to Hendrix, it is his main inspiration, but I compared them once and he said something like 'nah, no way will I ever be able to compare to him'... but yeah... sooooo good, lol

Band of Horses has been previously mentioned. The Battles are quickly becoming one of my favorite bands of all time, check them out

I notice a lot of bands being listed tend to lean towards a particular listening interest.

Here's a short list of some my personal favorites crossing the boundries of any specific genre

The Faceless

some are larger in name than others, true, but they've also stuck true to their "roots"

A great way to find "underground" bands worth listening to, is to find the smaller sister labels of the larger ones.
I love finding underexposed bands and watching them travel their particular roads to success, even though a lot of them may never make it as big mainstream acts. Most mainstream acts nowadays can't even hope to compare to some of these underground bands.

SO-DA! SO-DA! SO-DA! gustavo cerati is an awesome guitarist, and his solo stuff is hot as well.

Yeap, Cafe Tacvba has just released a new CD which is just great, search for it, it is called "SiNo".

Of course, for funky music, the Venezuelan band "Los Amigos Invisibles" won't let you down, probably one of the best bands around these days!

They have a song on Guitar Hero 3, Lay Down. I like it a lot... I haven't investigated any more into the band though. They remind me of a band from my home town I played a show with called We Are the Fury, they are on their way to fame and fortune it seams. I should check Priestess out...

But I love Muse, they are amazing. Never listened to the rest of them, but I've heard of Kaiser Chiefs and the John Butler Trio...

Modest Mouse is a cool band, but they are by no means a new band... they have been around since around 1990... they have like 8 CDs out... on further 'research' they have 5 studio albums, have been around since 1993, but they have a lot of other albums... I have 8 myself...

For one, I really really hope Rage Against the Machine starts to make new music... It ONLY makes sense after all... I mean they aren't playing shows very often... so logically they have to be doing something with all that free time... therefore they MUST be working on a new album...

Nup I was listening good bands that weren't American for him to check out.
