But seriously. I live by Blue Steels. The 2673 Custom Light set to be exact. Tried others but nothing sound/feels as good. For awhile they had these nice dark blue silks on them, but the latest few pairs I got no longer have silks. Upsetting, but it doesn't effect the sound.

More recently I've gone to a on-line supplier and have found the strings I love for 3 of my 4 basses so I haven't gone back to the Blue Steels.

The Dunlop MM"s are too flexible, they're not in the same ball park as Blue Steels or Roto's. They (Roto's and Blue steels)have more tension.

Sorry: I don't like the feel of hex core strings and really just prefer round core. I like the sound of the Blue Steels, just not the feel. I would like to clarify that since 1979, I've only been using round core Dean Markley strings on my electric basses.

The lack of silks is a pointless and annoying cost-saving that makes mounting the strings much more difficult. In particular, the G string ends in a fine, bare wire that is very difficult to mount in a standard Fender-style tuner. Bah! I was a Blue Steel fan but have de-camped to DR Pure Blues.

Haha yeah, I just chop the end off the g string. My biggest concern is how rough the ends are without the silk. I feel like they're gonna scratch the hell out of everything they touch.

They are my #1 strings, I was playing Rotosound for years until I started cramping due to their high tension combine with our freezing weather up here in north so I switch to Blue Steels and I was floored by their gutsy tone. They have a focused low-mid growl which make them sound louder acoustically plus they are outlasting Swing 66's by a mile.

I really like BS and have them in 6 basses.
Just received 5 sets of BS, 3 from one seller and 2 from another seller on Ebay.
The 2 pack seems way off as the packaging is more black than blue, missing printing under the tab, the black plastic looks different and the sticker is much smaller.
I'm not sure if this is a counterfeit or just newer/older packaging...
I paid $45 for this 3 pack that seems to be original: Set of 3 Dean Markley Blue Steel Bass Medium Light, 4-String, 45-105 | eBay
And 29.95 for this 2 set: 2-Pack of Dean Markley 2674A Blue Steel NPS Bass Strings Medium Light 45-105 | eBay

FYI. I have used blue steel md lt since they started that awesome marketing. For me they just stay in the sweet spot for the longest amount of time before going dead.
I emailed DM about the silks, since I have had all sorts of variations packaged lately from dark blue to naked and sets that came with both. The transition from them is that they are going silkless from here on out. Personally I love the OG lt blue.
