Any Blue Steel users out there?

The music store in my town are blowing a bunch of sets of 4 and 5 strings Blue Steels for $9.99 cdn, so i stocked up with 4 sets of 45-125 and two sets of 45-105. I have never tried them personally but i favour steel strings and they sounded amazing on my friend's Pbass, i look forward to use them when the time comes, plus im good for strings for a long time.

I used Blue Steels for years and years until I tried a set of Dean Markley SR2000's, and used the SR2000's for the last 10 years or so...man i love those strings, but last several sets I bought have had at least one dead string in them, usually the A string...I emailed and called Dean Markley, and a few MONTHS later they sent me 3 new sets of SR2000's ...2 of the 3 sets had dead A strings.

I went through the exact same thing. LOVED SR2000s for years, then suddenly I started finding dead strings. They sent me some Blue Steels to hold me over, then months later, I got a package with 6 sets of SR2000 in new packaging. EVERY A string was dead. I had trouble with some Ds too. Wow... Real bummer as I still haven't found a string I like as much. I have to say, their customer service TRIED, but something is wrong on the manufacturing end.

Man, at that price I would have bought some too!

I like and used the Blue Steels.
A little stiffer than I like and a tiny bit rough compared to Sunbeam nickel plated
How are the BS nickel's?

BTW, the chryogenic thing is real regarding the behavior of steel.
We could never get enough runs out of a drag bike shifting forks and 2nd gear until they were set out for the big freeze.
OTOH, I have no experience as to what the process does to SS.

I am stuck on Blue Steel Medium Stainless Round Wound. I have to order them online because nobody around me carries them. They have a large sound. These strings require higher action on my basses for my style, but that's what it takes to get the sound that I am looking for.
