Any love for David Wm. Sims?

David Wm. Sims is a favorite of mine. The whole band were fantastic-
The Jesus Lizard still stands out as maybe the best live band I've ever seen.
The tone and style of a track like "Monkey Trick" is what rock music is all about.
you gotta like that dude's been using that same old Memphis J forever,
and he was the first dude that made me want to pick up some kind of TL606 cabinet.

I always thought Rapeman was pretty weak compared to those dudes other output.
Scratch Acid, on the other hand, has some pretty fantastic tunes.

ha, even further, if you dig Sims, check out Tracy Pew's playing with The Birthday Party.
they're the group TJL cribbed the most from, I'd say.
start with Live '81/'82.

Can't believe I haven't been on this thread before. David is one of my absolute faves (Dokazaado's mention of Tracy Pew is also right on. GREAT player.)

I've met David a couple of times, got to see him play with Jesus Lizard a few times, and I've been in email contact with him off and on. Very cool guy. I'm ashamed to say I have not heard Unfact yet, but I will remedy that!

I've dug his work since back when he was in Scratch Acid. And yeah, his #1 bass (with which he has recorded over a dozen albums and toured the world multiple times) is a humble Memphis-brand MIJ 70s lawsuit model Jazz bass clone which is stock aside from replacing blown out pots and jack and he replaced the bridge at some point.

He comes up with some of the most sinister, sinewy, heavy, groovy bass lines ever.
