any modded Epiphone EB-0 basses around here??

I finished one not to long ago. This is my red one. I replaced the neck pick up with the one from my Gibson SG (I put a Model 1 in it) and at the bridge I installed a neck pick up from my Jazz that I upgraded the pick ups in. The Jazz neck works well because of the tighter string spacing. I installed a 3-way pick up switch and installed a extra set of volume & tone pots. Sense this photo was taken I installed a Hipshot bridge. I got the bass off CL for $80 and it was like new. I had most all the parts laying around so I only have about $200.00 into it. That includes Dunlop strap locks, LaBells strings and the bridge. It sounds and plays great and it is a nice back up to my Gibson. I picked up a black one not long ago that I am working on right now. I am puttin in a Model 1 neck pick up and a Gretch TV Jones at the bridge along with a few more mods.

Wow, very nice! How does the gibson pickup sound compared to the original, is there a huge differnce ?

Yeah, a darkstar is cool but not an option for me. I want to keep it simple and cheap so i don't loose a lot of $ if intend to resale it.

I think i'm going to add a Sting 51'p pickup somewhere between a p and a mm position and make V/V/T controls by adding a 3rd pot instead of the input jack and making a side input jack.
In the future i could swap the 51p with a guitar mini-humbucker and the sidewinder with a gibson pickup or a model one if i like how the bass sounds. voila!

This is my EB-O 2G. Started with one Guild NOS humbucker passive. I had envisioned a two pickup for a long time,so installed the second, and a basslines blackout tone circuit. It turned out great, and has much more tonal range than you would think. Sweet little short scale monster.

Get flatwound strings and maybe put foam mutes under the strings at the bridge and play with a thick pick... I don't hear anything much about this bass tone that is especially nuanced or unique. Its a sweet track btw!:bassist:

Had an EBO that I recently parted out, so no pics. But I basically copied Mike Watts EB3 mutt. Put a humbucker in the middle position and changed the bridge to a schaller and threw in aguilar OP3 preamp. Liked it so much that I bought a 60's EBO body that I am in the process of converting.

flats are on this bass since the day one, i play with a thick pick using palm mute, i can't get that "nose" from it, this is why i intend to put a pickup in the p or mm position, to get that midrange out of this bass

I had planned on putting the Model 1 in this bass but when I found my black one I decided to put it in that instead. That is why you can see the little chrome plug, I was planning on putting a 3-way switch for the M-1.
The SG pick up sounds GREAT in the Epi. If it sounded this good in my Gibson I never would have changed it. I dont know if it is the thicker body or bolt on maple neck or what but for some reason it sounds good. If you want to save some money find one of these cheap on EBay and put it in. One other benefit I found with the Hipshot bridge is that with the extra weight it helps with some of the neck dive. With a suede strap you don't even notice it now.

wow, now that is a interesting ideea. i would do the same only with a 51'p in the middle and a bill lawrence l-500 in the bridge. A 5pos strat type switch and a push pull pot for engaging the bridge and neck pickups together. A saw a schematic like this once on a strat, it was super comfortable
