Any mountain bikers??

Yeah, DigThemLows- I dig that bike.

On the X-Fusion Velvet(R? Not sure- will verify & edit)- NICELY built, solid clicks, etc on all knobs. Lockout & Travel adjust are very easily-accessed(top of fork legs)and function perfectly. There's a little *thunk* when going between travel settings- which seem to be 100/140mm; I will also check these numbers. In the shorter travel, it seems to be using the latter half of the full travel as it is more bob-free than full. Reviews tell me to watch for stiction to lessen as the fork breaks in; at 2 1/2 hours, I am seeing a bit of that happening. The one thing that would rob it of half a star(of 5)would be the noticeable topout- it's barely audible but you can definitely feel it. Doesn't feel bad or wrong, just a detail I'd prefer to not be there. Otherwise I cannot WAIT to pound this bike again. :hyper:

Putting a fox DHX 4 coil on tonight and it's done......my All Mountain rig........cannot wait to hit the trails.....

Love that generation of Turner frames. Not feeling the love for the air shock, eh? I've often considered putting a coil shock on my Tracer. Nice build!

Mark your pictures kill me- more thoughts on the fork later; at work now

Great shots Mark

Thanks! Just trying to spread the stoke! Taken with my BlackBerry, if you can believe that.

Nice. Pretty intrigued by x-fusion I must say. The price point is hard to beat. Top out bump might go away with break in. I can understand why you can't wait to ride that bike again. It looks awesome!

This sucks I just got my first bike 2 weeks ago and I have GAS already. AHHGGG!! Will it never end!!

Nope. It's a lifelong affliction. :D

My "new to me" 07' Cannondale Prophet 3z ... totally stock ... low miles ... just got it today. Slapped her together and hit my local trail. Dig it.
The reviews I've read are right on ... a tish bit heavy (30lbs) ... climbs great for a FS. It handled the trails really close to my alum HT trail-bike (close to the same geometry) just smoother. Its got some hops in it, even with its weight. Besides more pedal strikes than usual, no real complaints ... it's a keeper. Now to trim a bit of lbs.

This is the first FOX fork I've had ... I can see what the hoopla is about; not sure if it'll stick around too long though ... not sure if I want to deal with the all the maintenance that goes along with them; plus I'm a HUGE fan of coil. Eh, we'll see.

Since I've given myself a (2) bike limit ... looks like my vintage steel Kona HT is about to be parted out.

Those prophet are good bikes !

Seeing a Cannondale without a Lefty/Headshock is like a Fender Jazz bass with Ric pickups , sure it is OK but ....... :p

Thanks!
Totally agree. Good all-around'er. I've gotta admit ... not much on looks though. :smug:

Yeah, I can see where you are coming from about the Lefty ... seems strange that Cannondale sells non-Lefty models. Sure I can see an option for a Lefty or not ... but to make a specific non-Lefty model?. Don't really see any real reason. Although I do really dig the Fox Talas ... given that I'm contemplating going 650B with it some time in the future; a Lefty would've been nice ... with the exception of the 2007 run, as I understand they had issues in that time frame. But since I got a really good deal on the bike ... I'm cool with the Talas.

Today was it's second run. Dialed it in a bit more. Still dig it ... although I don't find it as "fun" as my HT. And I do miss my HT for some of the technical rooty climbs. It does do a great job keeping my stamina up ... not feeling beat up/worn out after a ride ... HUGE plus there! I'm sure I'll like it more after it drops a few lbs and a couple replacements.

I liked the Air shock, but got a deal on a coil so I'm trying it out..........so far I like it, but that's just an around the neighborhood hit the curbs ride, so I'll have to get on the trail to let you know for sure.........Here it is with the coil....

Hey, Mark- my LBS won't rebuild my 05 Gemini's Manitou Sherman Breakout fork; said they don't have a lot of experience w/Manitou in general, it's old, etc. Can you suggest a shop? Thanks.

Check yer PMs!

30lbs isn't too bad for an aggressive trail bike... My Tracer is 33 and for the trails around here and my 200lb hack ass a lighter build would just result in a lot of broken stuff. :D

The basic Fox fork maintenance (30hr) is pretty easy. You don't need any special tools. It takes me about 15 minutes to change the oil and lube the dust wipers. Worth it as far as i'm concerned.

What is the rear shock?

Very cool. I prefer the feel of a coil over air but I'm finding the RP23 on my bike pretty decent.

Nice to see this thread alive and doing well!

I'll take a pic of my new rig tomorrow with a trail shot.

Anyone care to guess? I'll give you guys a hint...made in the heart of southern california!

I'm going to go with Intense as well. Tracer?

Or maybe Ventana?

Yeah, 30lbs isn't really much to complain about ... looking to get it down to the mid/upper 20's. Since I weigh in @ 175lbs ... that seems to be a good weight for me. Light enough to throw around and climb a bit easier ... but heavy enough & sturdy enough to plow when I need it to. :smug:

Every 30hrs for maintence ... so with how much I ride, once a month give or take. How many hours do most folks run between service? I know RockShox has 100hrs between services, but according to my LBS, as well as my experience; it's more like 1yr. About the same for Manitou.

The rear shock is a Manitou Swinger X3 SPV.
Can't complain about it. Perfectly adequate for where I ride ... granted I'm not taking drops higher than I am tall (more like 2-3'). The SPV works nicely. Not enough pedal-bob to push me to upgrade anytime soon. Even with the stock Manitou and the single-pivot design, it still climbs pretty darn good. I'll most likely go coil when I switch it out (summer-ish)
