Any mountain bikers??

Nice!!

I have a Lyrik 160mm Dual Position Air coming for my Turner so I through my Talas 32 on my Homegrown HT.....140mm vs the 90mm that used to be on it and I've got myself a fun Hard Tail for sure! Still need to put Disc brakes on there..........

You're preaching to the choir here! I'm running a 36 with Mavic 521 rims laced to Hope hubs, built by a local builder known for building strong wheels.

On a positive note, I cleared this climb for the first time this morning: It's 4 rock step-ups in short order. 3 out of 4 are off-camber and there's less than a bike length between the second and third (just below the bike in the pic). Stoked!

Looking down:
EDIT: Haha, look at the scars on the lip of the second rock. Lots of big rings smacked off that. :D

I was in Saint Johns a few weeks ago on business. I must say the place is a playground for mountain biking. Nice job on that climb, especially on a longer travel rig. Definately a walker for me.

Prog.

Wow! Very nice. I've heard really good things about the X-Fusion forks. Too late now, but you probably could have gotten an RLC cartridge from Fox, which does have lockout. Again, I don't think it's necessary with LSC but that's just my biased opinion. :D I want to hear your impressions on the Velvet as soon as you get some. On the frame too.

One of the best kept secrets in the MTB world, if you ask me. We have lots of amazing terrain here for sure and we're slowly getting organized and developing more and more trails.

You came at a great time. This year has been the best spring/summer/fall weather-wise in 50 years. Hope you enjoyed the city.

Funny, suspension actually makes that climb easier. For most folks, a 6x6" travel bike is the ideal rig on our trails. Everything is super technical and there are lots of steep descents. With the advent of bob-cancelling suspension designs, low speed compression and pedaling platforms in shocks, the penalties for 6" of squish are not what they used to be either.

OK just went from fixed gear beach cruiser to 24 speed hardtail Trek Mt bike last week. I LOVE IT !! Its my reward for hitting 2 months since I stopped smoking (cigs ;-) riding about 12 mi a day right near my house in Scottsdale Az. Its a place called the Papago Preserve will send some shots later very pretty for an in the city ride.

Yea sorry, it's a coaster brake. I need to learn the tec talk. Got my Mtb at a lbs that specializes in rehabing destroyed bikes and selling them at a fair price , set up correctly. (Tempe bike exchange) They are near ASU so they get plenty of college kids selling and trading bikes. There is even a local place , Bike saviors , that has all the tools and a couple of guys that know what they are doing and will help YOU do minor repairs . This community is almost as cool as Bassists:hyper: Paul

Cool- & good on you for supporting your LBS AND for(I trust) learning to maintain your ride.

BTW, took the new sled out for a brief jaunt- cut short by a loose saddle, but beyond that I'm thinkin *noice*

Edit: several hours and a number of beers later I'm thinking I may crash in the garage so as to wake near my new sweetheart...

-or at least slow down...

Pre-fallover-and-whimper: Above the rock Garden, Rockville Hills Park. GOD what a pretty bike.

Gorgeous bike! Your build turned out awesome! Any further thoughts on the fork? I'm starting to consider replacing my 36 with a Vengeance HLR... :D

This is the season that keeps on giving up here. Yet another gorgeous morning. Rocks and roots at sunrise!
