It should be good- I have worked for these guys off and on since I was 19, but not at all in the past 10 or so. Lotsa memories, mostly good. Not a bad shop- I am thankful.

Been working nights and shuttling kids, no rides for a week+...
On a potentially-positive note, Monday morning I will be returning to the world of pro bike wrenching. Likely repairs and assembling new cheapos, but Im sure Ill get to finger a nice one or two. Bonus/only reason to do it: *EMPLOYEE DISCOUNT*
Is there any other reason to work at a bike shop?

About how wide is the rock skinny, and how far down off each side?
That's the line. It's about 4 wide at its narrowest point. On the outside (right) it's about 6 vertical feet to the bottom of the rock and it still slopes away below that. On the inside it's only about 18 as it is now. Not sure what I'm going to do on the inside. That's a big stump from a blown down tree, not sure what will happen when I remove the tree...
Well, I love playing w/bikes, plus this shop always seems to attract freaks- AND there was always great people(women
)watching both inside and out. If the job paid worth a damn I'd never leave. Edit: FINALLY got a nice spin in yesterday- felt weak and slow, but was glad to get out. Ended up fighting to keep a couple of very determined runners off my A, succeeding. Best part was a POWERFUL tailwind on the last couple off rolling, downhill miles. Also realized that I can start at 5:30pm and get plenty of fun in.
That's too bad. Most shops around me don't even do suspension work. They all send theirs to the same place to get fixed (Suspension Experts in Asheville NC). They are all too busy turning wrenches and customer service to deal with suspension service, plus they typically only have a couple employees each anyway.
I have no desire to. Out in Asheville NC is a place where I get my stuff serviced. It's a bike shop that has a great suspension mechanic. Currently they are a 3rd of the price of the other place I mentioned ... although they do take while to finish the work.

Nice viddy- didnt watch it all, but I did get a good spin in- hit a rare-for-me level of exhaustion, totally spent. NOT saying I have any kind of stamina, just that my usual lil 15 miles of local trails beat a lot of snot out of me. Walked a lot of stuff I typically clean.
DAMMIT- both my SS MTBs are squeaking and creaking... The old one has a square-taper cartridge in a BMX-type adapter(large, BMX-type frame)so there's a lot of potentially worn stuff. New cartridge when I find one that fits- a 127mm is ideal.
The 456 has a Saint crank- got it used from a BMX racer on eBay, so I assumed the creaking was from a worn-out BB. Replaced it yesterday, didn't fix the noise. Creaks on EACH pedal stroke, under even the lightest load... I am suspicious that the aluminum inserts in the frame's BB shell are loosening, which would suck.

I finally got out on my MTB on Monday night, accompanied by my 75 y.o. cycling buddy. We had planned a nice 20 mile loop of back roads and tracks in rolling hills.
At almost the furthest point from the the cars my rear mech broke off leaving the mounting bolt and spring tensioner assembly (and a few bits of plastic) attached to the hanger. Luckily I had some cable ties and managed to tie the mech out of the way so I could coast down the hills and scoot on the flats. Up the hills I had to walk.
Even thought we cut straight back to the cars it was almost dark by the time we got back.

For sure. Three miles into the Porcupine Rim Trail in Moab, my seat post decided to give up the ghost. Fortunately, it was at the top of the big climb. I did the whole descent and the ride back to camp (16 miles) with my saddle zip tied to what was left of my seat post. The Gatorade bottle hold the remains of the Stans sealant I emptied from one of my non-UST Nevegals that decided it no longer wanted to be connected to my rim....it was an awesome ride!
It was a good ride despite the breakdown, it was just nice to get out again after a very long winter.
My calves are still suffering a bit from all the scooting, I thought I was going to cramp up that night but somehow made it through to morning cramp free.
New mech and chain now fitted and all ready for next Monday night. Must put some more zip ties in my toolkit.
Yes, sorry I thought it was probably international as up to a few years ago it was dérailleur here as well.
It's a lot easier to spell than dérailleur. Unsurprisingly the front one is a "front mech".

Ah jeez, I don't know. I assume your cranks are tightly fastened? I recall once on a hardtail I had that a creak I thought was coming from the cranks/BB was actually coming from the fork crown. The BB shell inserts seem like the most likely cuplrits to me. Which sucks.

Jealous of your Moab riding. A bunch of my buddies are heading out in September, I can't go. Next year hopefully.
I'm seeing that term a lot everywhere on the net these days including sites like MTBR which have predominantly US membership. It's catching on, I suspect because it's way easier to type.
In other news, we got almost a kilometer of corridor cut for the new trail. I took the bike up on tuesday and it can be pedaled in both directions even in its current primitive state. Got a lot of moss to grub off though...
I find it amusing that we 'murikins will likely hold out on adopting this term over the French(?)*derailleur*at least for awhile...
On that note, I hate when people say *gruppo* ... What, are you actually Italian? No? Well then is a GROUP- a PARTS GROUP to be overly picky/anal about it.
Please feel free to deride me mercilessly on this.

I assumed that you would be picky about that given your background with wrenching so I was just trying to cover all the possibilities no matter how remote.
