Wow. Very nice. A friend of mine just picked up Salsa at his shop. I was thinking about a Mukluk but a carbon Beargrease would be amazing.
Kelly McGarry's 70 foot canyon backflip blew my mind.
Another great day for a ride.
It must be nice to have pretty much perpetual nice weather, though I think I could live without that smog.
We have 2+ feet of snow on the ground now and another foot on the way overnight. Once the snowmobiles pack the snow down a bit, I'll get some snow rides in. Fatbike sadly not in the cards this year, though so it'll have to be my Intense with the Schwalbe Ice Spikers again (Boo hoo, I know
).
Another beautiful ride. Different trail. This is the flag at the top of The Luge. You could see all the way out to Santa Catalina island (26 miles offshore) to downtown LA. At this point, we're about 25 miles inland too. In that first 'selfie' those mountains you can barely see out at sea is Catalina island. We've had an incredible run of weather. It's been 70-80 degrees for the past three weeks. Great riding weather.

Yeah I had to time some of those steps it throws at you. There were definitely parts where I was in the air there at end. Fun trail though. I'll hit it again if I have time to roll that way.

No, I haven't had much of a chance to ride lately. My last couple were at Chino Hills.
Couldn't take a shot in the trails but took one when arrived home.

Saw one of these on the trail yesterday. Dude was bouncing around pretty good. Looks like he was having some trouble with it compared to his riding buddies on a full suspension bikes. He was definitely slower than them (but had the biggest smile). Looked cool as hell though.

Fat bike wheels are very heavy , lot of energy waisted there.
Lot slower than "normal wheels" bike but soooooo much fun !!! In the snow anyway , never tried one in summer.

I'm currently running a 32/20 gear ratio ... which is pretty common for the rooty and technical singletracks of western North Carolina. Typically you don't find too many guys going less than 18t at any given time. Although I do know about a guy who works a 36/16, ratio, but he's usually riding non-technical fire-road type stuff.
I've only been riding SS for about a month ... but totally digging it! Although I've always kept my shifting to a minimum (2-3 gears depending); I've gotta say, running a SS setup has definitely improved my endurance.

Not doin' extreme climbing with this bike and when I have to , I walk
I use my main MTB when I know there is serious climbing to do.
If it looks like a flatter trail , I'll pick the SS sometimes. Fun.
