Any mountain bikers??

Completed my first ride of any distance today. To my amazement, there was some guy talking trash about "grown ass men" wearing helmets on the trail. I guess his brain isn't important to him, but if he crashes I doubt he'll be saying much more about it.

The majority of riders wear helmets. If I see a guy with no helmet, I instantly think he's a novice in the wrong place. Not that I'm any special talent, but that's what I think. :D

If you're ever out this way, we'll muster up a bike for you and I'll take you out there. You'll dig it. :)

I will definitely take you up on this next time I'm in Socal.

Hi guys,

I just found this video that showcases one of Washington's premier riding destinations. I used to ride this area a lot when I was in college 15 years ago. It has changed a lot since then.

How very west coast. Looks like a lot of fun. Some pretty good exposure there in spots, eh?

I got some bad news on friday. A large piece of land with a number of excellent trails on it has been put up for sale and is slated for development. Now we have to scramble to figure out how this will affect those trails and the trails on the adjacent public lands. I'm holding out some hope that the main trail up there won't be in the developer's path. I'm hoping they'll end the development at the big power transmission line corridor. I think that's relatively likely because the terrain behind the power lines is steep and rough, abuts a watershed and most of it is above the 190m contour, which is as high as they can currently pump water. Fingers crossed on that. It would suck to lose 2km of trails that I put countless hours into building.

Really? Wow.

I have cracked two helmets mountain biking. I shudder to think what would have happened to my head had I not been wearing one in those crashes.

I find it just strange that any "man" who wears a maxi-pad in his spandex would even attempt to speak about how much of a "man" some other "man" is who also wears a maxi-pad in his spandex.

Ride several hours worth of rough singletrack without a chamois and get back to me about how your ass feels after. :D

Also as bassteban said, real mountain bikers wear dresses. :p

To clarify, as perhaps it was the beer(s)posting... as an old rider and father, I cringe when I see/hear of anyone riding w/o a brain bucket. It is not a fashion issue, I just don't want anyone to be limited to drums because they left bits of their frontal lobes on a rock. :)
OTOH, IF fashion is a huge part of your cycling fun, far out! Post pics- but dont dog a dog for lookin this way or that. Less all help each other up

Yeah, I have personally worked on people as a lifeguard EMT that have wrecked on the beach trail. No helmet, cruising on a beach cruiser, kid darts out in front of them, they take a digger, brains on the cement. Not good. Helmets save lives.

Yep. It doesn't matter what you look like as long as you're being safe and you're out there on the trail. You're not riding so others can look at you. It's not a fashion show (unless you're wearing a dress :D). You're out there to have fun on the trail.
