I love the looks and have wanted one for years. Unfortunately, I discovered I can't play a single cut once the neck joins the body. It is a shame because I'd really like to own another single cut, including a Padalka.

Yep. That's mine. Love it. I was one of his very early customers outside of Russia. I have this one as well:
He's been through quite a journey having fled Russia in 2022 and had about a year in limbo in Georgia (the country) and now in Canada as a master builder at Dingwall and restarting his own line on the side. He said he currently has a 3 year backlog. I'm very happy for him.
Those fine lines along the board edge are some of the finest details I've ever seen. I remember seeing pics of that around the time it was built and being blown away.
They play great. Came with very low action so I raised it a bit for my playing style. The single cut aspect is not an issue for me as I pretty much always center my thumb on the back of the neck. If one is used to wrapping their thumb around the neck then I imagine it would be an adjustment or deal breaker. They do feel quite tight - not in a bad way - given the single cut, multi-lam necks and graphite reinforcement strips in the neck. Construction is the best I've seen. I play the 4 string much more as the neck profile is perfect for me. I play the 5 less as it's got a U profile that's just a bit too chunky for my tastes. I've thought about having him reprofile it but it doesn't make sense with all the international shipping and his existing workload. I may move that one on at some point but still like having it around as art. I have gigged it and it sounds great (also kind of cool that with it having a 36 inch B, regular "long scale" DR string sets fit perfectly - just barely).

Times have changed. On my first one, I paid about what a standard (not Custom Shop) new Fender or Musicman cost at the time... I did send him the pickup so that could be deducted.
Good that he's getting what his work deserves now. I got the second one from him in Berlin as he built it for the Holy Grail Guitar Show there and the feedback he got from all the other builders was that his pricing was WAY too low (of course his expenses in Russia were very low then - biggest expense was imported hardware, pickups, preamps, etc and any imported woods - though the ash and flame maple used on mine were domestic, only the fingerboard and the thin wenge stringers on the 4 was imported - the 5 is all local woods other than the binding IIRC).

Frédérick Filiatrault does some amazing stuff on his 9 string Padalka. Reminding me of stick playing. Could easily get the action low enough for this.
I'm pretty sure he's still doing the basses with the option of headstock or not. He does seem to favor without on both guitars and basses so he might decide to limit that.
Same, I remember them being maybe $3k-ish? Although by the time I was aware of him, while still in Russia, the backlog was already pretty significant. I recall a number of people on Sevenstring.org having his guitars and I think there were a few bass owners as well.
On the other hand, not to cross the line into geopolitics, but I'm really glad he got the heck out of Russia! Not a great place to be right now...
