Wow. I'm not a fan of singlecuts as a general rule, but that's a spectacularly cool take on the concept.

I can see you've gone pretty minimal on the electronics there; is that a P-style pickup hidden in that casing by any chance?

Thanks. I agree on the singlecut thing. Was not a fan until now. Pickup is a Thunderbucker (copy of a 1960s t-bird pickup). Pretty close to the P-bass spot so it has a nice throaty midrange to it.

We were on exactly the same page. Playing it, I see no downside. Just most of them look wonky to me. On the one knob thing, I just felt the simpler the better in keeping with the aesthetics.

This is my favorite part of the spec list, Knob singular. Seriously though that is a very beautiful bass. The amount of people (myself included) already saying "im not a singlecut guy BUT" just goes to show how much individual craftsmanship can overrule our own taste's

Yeah, that's something I'm trying to figure out. They remind me of the Fender sandblasted basses, which I really like.

Yep. First one so far as I know. There was some risk as it can easily fracture and break. The 12th fret is amber as well (which I found on the beach - I bought the piece for the knob). I also agree on the simplicity of the one knob aesthetic. They start to look more conventional with multiple pickups and half a dozen knobs. Also I have one of the Broughton high-pass/low pass filter pedals if I need that function.

He sprays the surface color first, then sprays the color that fills the grain, he then sands it exposing the surface color and the contrasting color remains in the grain - and then seals.
